We went last night hopping to have good food. But we're disappointed. We reached there with friends at 9:30 pm and restaurant was closing at 10:30 pm. The server without greeting us started pressing is to order food immediately as he wanted to close the kitchen. When food arrived the palak paneer was looking stale. It seemed he warmed up the Subji from morning leftover! There was no salt and it was tasteless!

Used to be a regular, now reconsidering other options. Food quality is good. We have tried both lunch & dinner plenty of times over the last couple of years. There were occasional hit/miss, but nothing that made us regret our visit. Service was normally good. Recently, during a late visit for dinner (~ 1 hour before closing time) - we were kind of rushed through the ordering process and bill pay midst dinner. Plus, they opted to provide just the bills for change, leaving out sub-dollar denominations. This kind of made us think again before visiting this place. This can be a one time miss, but might take us a while before we head back in this direction.

Natraj catered my wedding a month ago (and my parent's 25th anniversary 2 years ago). Both occasions were amazing and all of our friends compliments how great the food was. He can make anything you want, both tradition, and more modern indian food. There service is great, you get to do a tasting and give feedback on what you want and go back and forth on ideas. Overall, a pleasure to work with and they give fantastic service and food. Will definitely use them for any future events.

I went here for lunch and had the buffet. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, the service is friendly and the food is out of this world! I was surprised to see so many open seats because this place is really high quality.

Excellent lunch buffet, always fresh, with some things new each time. Much, much cleaner and appointed than other Indian restaurants. I am a regular.

The food is good but the service is hit or miss. I like to get it as take out. I love the tikka masala, aloo gobi, simosas, saag paneer, and the garlic naan is always delicious.

The first time we came to Natraj was mere coincidence. We had just moved to California and were looking for a place to rent in Laguna Hills. After meeting with the realtor, my husband and I were starving and while driving down Alicia Parkway we decided to stop when we read "Cuisine of India." Now, if you're looking for quality Indian food, this is definitely the place to go. Even after being here for a while and eating at other Indian restaurants, this is definitely one of the best ones I've ever been to. Natraj has one of the best butter chickens I've had since my last visit to India! When we came in the first time, we were greeted at the door and immediately shown to our table. We had the butter chicken with a side of garlic naan. Both my husband and I were blown away by the flavor. The chicken was tender and the sauce perfectly creamy as it should be. It also came with a side of rice. Since we were blown away the first time, we decided to come back for their Saturday Lunch Buffet. It is a steal at $11.95 with a drink and lots of variety; it was fantastic. They'll also bring a fresh basket of naan to your table. The awesome thing about it is that even though it's the buffet, the flavor and quality of the food is just as good as when you order off the menu. Some of my favorite things I had were their Chicken Tikka and Chicken Tikka Masala. They were both executed perfectly! Unfortunately, some of the food at the buffet was cold by the time that we arrived at 2:30pm. This is why I've decided to give it a 4 instead of a 5. The food still had great flavor, but I like my meals hot. Indeed, Natraj is excellent. I will definitely be coming back for their buffets even though we now live in Irvine. Next time I'll make sure to come as soon as they open so I can eat my meal hot, lol.

One star taken away for slow service Before my husband and I got married and had kids, we used to have our favorite tucked away Indian restaurants in the valley. Well a lot has happened since those days. For one, we live in OC now and when our wedding anniversary was approaching, my hubby reminisced about our spontaneous trips to our favorite hidden Indian restaurants. So we decided to find a new Indian restaurant near by and check it out when we stumbled on this place and went for dinner. As other reviews have mentioned, service is slow. We didn't mind though because we were in no rush. The food is very good. A wide verity of vegetarian and non vegetarian choices. We made the mistake of ordering Onion Bhaji and Vegetable Pakoras for appetizer, as they are very similar. Both are shredded and fried. It would have been nice for the waiter to point that out. But that would have made for good service which is not what they're about here. I had the Saag Paneer and hubby had a curry dish. Both were delish. The waiter was surprised we didn't want to order any Naan and must have asked three or four times "No Naan"??? We love Naan but we had a lot of food coming already. Overall experience was pretty good. Pros: The food does not disappoint... Lots of options: lamb, chicken, sea food, vegetarian, spicy, mild .... You name it Cons: Staff needs to be more attentive and service minded. Be willing to make suggestions or offer assistance. We went back a few weeks later and had a similar experience with service. Very slow. But the food is so good, it almost makes up for it. We started with drinks. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio and my husband had a Taj Mahal beer. I have to say my glass had a healthy amount of wine in it. It was nice and full :) No appetizers this time. The Papadum was plenty. I had the Swordfish Tikka Kebab. It was amazing! Spice flavors were on point and well balanced. The fish cooked just right. A little charred on some parts of the outside and the inside nice and flaky and soft. Highly recommend the Swordfish Tikka Kebab. Hubby had the Lamb Bhuna. The description on the menu was kinda misleading. It said seared lamb and onion in chef's special seasoned gravy. But it looked like lamb curry in that there was no gravy really. It was like a lamb stew. When we read seared lamb and gravy we imagined pieces of seared lamb with a smooth gravy like sauce on top. Where there is more lamb than gravy or anything else. Not lamb prices in a chunky stew like sauce. Although the dish didn't fit its description, it was very tasty. Pretty spicy as promised on the menu and very flavorful. And it went perfectly with the rice it came with. This time we did have Naan, the Garlic Naan which is baked to order, crispy in some parts and soft and moist in others. A must have. Over all, great Indiana Food, reasonable prices and not the best service. Go in expecting little service wise and you'll become a regular like we have. One of the wait staff members, don't know his name but he seemed to be the only Asian waiter there, is very nice and checked on us a couple times

A friend living nearby convinced me that it was my turn to meet up for lunch near her neck of the woods. I told her Indian sounded good to me today, so she immediately suggested this place. Having the same name as the other Natraj's I'd been to I naturally assumed it was another one of those little strip mall fast food places like a mini Panda Express. Once I got there, boy was I wrong.....this is no where near being a fast food joint! It's located in a corner of a pretty normal suburban strip mall, but once you walk inside....it's a really nice, almost fine dining type decor and atmosphere. Looking to the far end of the restaurant you see the long buffet counter .....ah, it's a higher end Indian buffet! Lets just say I got really stuffed after one round. There was a very good selection of different curries, salad, fruits, and desserts at the buffet, and a separate hot plate with a spicy vegetable mix on a separate table nearby.....kind of like Mongolian bbq style. Along with a free refillable basket of naan bread, wow, you can really fill up fast! I'm not supposed to eat this much so pretty much stuck to what I knew I could take....pretty much the Saag Paneer (pureed spinach with cubes of goat cheese) and the Tandoori Chicken. Everything was very good....not sure what else to say here. Ok, if you're hungry, then definitely come here...and the price is not too bad considering all the delicious food too! Service was good, friendly, and efficient as my water glass was regularly kept full. Oh, I ordered a mango lassi (mango flavored yogurt drink) just to cool the spiciness down....nice. With all this hot and spicy food it's good to be in a nice air-conditioned restaurant too. Just be warned about the lunch hour when the line at the buffet can be a bit long, but it moves pretty quickly. I may come back here once in a blue moon only because buffets aren't very friendly to my diet ....so it definitely won't be a regular visit here since Indian food is so rich and heavy! :)

I used to go to the Natraj in Belmont Shore years ago and thought it was pretty good. Was amused to find another location nearby where I currently am. Lunch buffet is just as good as I remember, and the price is decent, includes a drink. $11.95 as of this review. Assortment of chicken and vegetarian dishes, rice and salad bar and desserts. If you're looking for a decent sit down Indian lunch Natraj will not disappoint. Make sure to try the garlic naan bread.

My favorite local Indian restaurant. I hadn't been here in years and it's still as good as I remember it. Warning: the food is spicy but since I'm Latin I love spicy food.

I finally checked this place out yesterday, and it did not disappoint. I had the lunch buffet which had a huge selection. Everything was nice and full and fresh. Also had the garlic naan which is just as tasty as everyone else has said in previous reviews. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice decor. We had to wait quite a bit to initially get our drinks, but after that service was spot on. Very attentive and plenty of refills and table clearing.

It was a quiet evening and when we were seated there was only one other table occupied. But, soon after we came in (around 6pm) others began filtering into the restaurant. Our server(s) were all very friendly and helpful in answering our questions. We ended up ordering Mulligatawny soup, Garlic. Naan, Paneer Makhani, Chicken Tikka Kebab, basmati rice, and Thai tea. Our food arrived in a nice leisurely pace which suited us just fine as we weren't in any kind of hurry. They brought out Papadum and sauces first (complimentary), and my soup followed it. The Mulligatawny soup was really quite good in spice and flavor but it was a bit over salted - adding a bit of lemon into it helped but not quite enough to offset the saltiness. So, in the soup, I wished it wasn't quite so salty as the other flavors were spot on good. Next the tea came out and I was so happy it wasn't pre-sweetened as it is often served almost syrupy sweet - theirs was not sweetened at all. They bring a sweetener selection (real sugar, pink, blue, and yellow) so you can make it sweet to your preference. The main courses arrived after we finished with our soup. The Chicken Tikka came out sizzling on a cast iron pan and smelled as good as it tasted. It was a bit mild in heat/spicy but next time we can ask for it to be made hotter. The flavor was great and just a bit of heat to notice but it didn't get any hotter than the initial level. The Paneer Makhani was delicious - again, I will order the heat level higher the next time we come - but the flavors were wonderful and the Paneer was firm, tasty, and not grainy at all. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner quite a lot and we will definitely be returning customers.

Straight up good Indian food. The vindaloo wasn't very spicy and they didn't ask anything on that topic when ordering, but the taste was very traditional. The menu is marked for what items contain gluten which made it easy to order gluten free.

I've been craving Indian food, and I drove down here to the OC for a doctor's appointment, but was starving on the way! So I stopped for a quick lunch and to my surprise this place was awesome! Best Indian lunch buffet I have had since I moved out here to the west coast! I enjoyed all the selections and the staff was super nice!

This was the first time that I had been here as I was in the area and I had a huge craving for Indian Food. The location is good...near the freeway entrance. The decor is very modern and seemed to give me the feeling of being upscale. The buffet has a good selection and the price point is spot on. I also like that they gave you free naan. Overall, I good place to get some quality Indian food.

My husband, kids, and I come here for the lunch buffet as often as we can. I have impatient toddler boys so I appreciate buffets, where I can feed them immediately. Saturdays there is a smaller lunch buffet that has plenty of options. Sunday they have a champagne brunch buffet, with more food options (lots and lots of options!) and bottomless champagne. It is a bit more expensive. Definitely try it!

I love the place. Indian is not my native food but I've had plenty to know that this place serves quality indian food. I got take out, so I don't know what dine in service is like. The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious. The Lamb in the Biryani were tender. I had asked for my food to be spicy, and think that they can do much better (I love spicy food, maybe a personal preference thing). They gave me lots of peppers and chilli paste on the side. And LET ME TELL YOU about the Garlic Naan.Well, they are Delicious! And were kept hot until I arrive. Overall I was very satisfied with my order and will return for more!!!!! You gotta try it or you don't know...Smh. ..

This is the best Indian restaurant in the area. The food here is fresh and full of flavor. The garlic naan is incredible. The menu is clearly marked for vegetarian dishes and they will make many dishes vegan upon request. My parents got the lamb and loved it. On top of the delicious food the staff is super welcoming, attentive, and funny. It's a great atmosphere for some amazing Indian food. I highly recommend it!

I was turned on to Indian food as a child. I had an Indian uncle that was am amazing cook and LOVED visiting his house so I could eat and eat and eat. Natraj is like eating at his house. This is probably the best Indian restaurant in the county. Scored some samosas on my last visit and it really brought the whole thing home. Happy to say that this is one of two Indian restaurants in OC that I would definitely recommend. Without question. The tandoori chicken and palak paneer are on point, as well as everything else. I'm stuffed and I still can't wait to come back. We'll done, Natraj! You're number one in my books.

This place has the best paneer/chicken tikka masala and garlic naan EVER... Pair that with a Taj Mahal (beer) and fughettaboutit. Whenever I am feeling like majorly cheating on my never-ending diet, I treat myself to a small feast at this place. It's dimly lit and hip/updated in there, not all bright and in your face annoying when you just want to go pig out on some delicious food in your gym clothes with no makeup on. Oh, I'm the only one that does that? Dang. Anyway, if you are an Indian food lover (or even if you aren't), you have to try it. Everything is good.

A very nice placed tucked away in the corner. I never noticed the place and I've shopped this lot often. My friend brought me in and I was pleased with the cleanliness and newness inside. No stained floors, torn chairs or bad smells. We were greeted and seated right away. I requested garlic Naan and off we went to the buffet. It was 11:30 AM on a Tuesday, so everything was freshly presented and beautiful. Not crowded. The food was great. I would have like my Naan with less crunch and a bit more flavor in my spinach, but it's a buffet, not cooked to order. A container of licorice bits are near the door as you leave if you'd like to freshen your breath. They also serve cocktails! We noticed the cute bush out front with the famous jeweled fruit. Just adorable. Thumbs up! I'd come back!

Although I've been here for dinner after their remodeling, this was my first time having a buffet in 5+ years. It's Royal Khyber's ambiance with Javier's service. Having said that, why is everything salty and loaded in oil!? It's definitely party food. I do appreciate the quest for indo-fusion ambiance/style and having a decent upscale indian restaurant for south orange countians. I also like that they have several people available for service but shouldn't they interact a bit more, ask if you'd like more naan, or how the food is? I understand there's quite a bit of overhead but $13 dollars for a buffet with only one vegetarian sabji option is quite maddening in my eyes. If you're going to come here, you're better off coming during dinner as you'll have the choice to select what you'd like, and the service is still great.

My dad & I decided to give this place a go for lunch recently. I hadn't stepped foot inside in at least five years, back when it was still decorated very ornately with gold everywhere and red curtains (I think?) all over. Things have changed much in recent years, with the entire interior getting a modern makeover to bring it up to today's expected standards. And it was definitely for the better. The thing to get here for lunch is the buffet. There's still a menu to choose from if you don't want to go big, but for $11.99 you get to sample a little of just about everything, including some far-out desserts I'd never heard of before. Honestly, I didn't know what most of their offerings were. I mean, there are signs with a simple description of what you're looking at but my knowledge of Indian food isn't too great. But, being an adventurous eater, I liberally scooped anything that looked tasty onto my plate. Most of my selections were from the chicken dishes - chicken tikki masala, tandoori chicken, spicy chicken. They covered all the fowl bases. The side dishes were mostly potatoes, peas, beans, and other assorted veggies prepared with various sauces and spices. Again, I'd eaten next to none of this before in my life but just about everything was good. Desserts were a bit iffy. There were these little silver dollar-sized flat, doughy things that tasted like a dishwashing tablet. I think it was made with rosewater? They also had something that was like a pancake ball covered in a sweet syrup. Those were tasty but so sweet you could really only have one. While not everything at the buffet was to my liking, I enjoyed enough of it to come back for more. Plus, the fact that I can fill my plate with mounds of chicken legs makes it all worth it.

Got a bunch of take out from here and everything was delicious! Its a little pricey but worth it. Eating in would be a little fancy for indian food which makes sense for the prices. The place is huge inside and was a bit quiet for dinner time...like no one there. But the food was yum!

Environment: Classy, clean and beautiful Service: OK. They refused to back up the naan bread which makes me uneasy.... not that I like the bread so much (left it there after all) Food: below average really. Just drive down two exits you will have lamb and fish curries in other Indian buffet places. For vegetarians like me, they cooked two kinds of beans, one smashed eggplant and one saag paneer for vegetarians. I was looking for something solid like vegetable korma and cauliflower... but they don't have none of that. So I had to stuff myself with salad. Drinks: Wine is super expensive here well look at the zip code! Crowd: OC slicones, Professionals for lunches, older couples. They do get a rush at around noon but they have big enough space to handle... No one else is popping champagne like I do in a buffet haha

I have to admit I don't get out for Indian food often. I like it, but I just don't think about unless someone mentions it first. Our next door neighbors, my wife and I decided to go out for dinner one night and the girls had Indian in mind - I was fine with it. I had no expectations other than being told it was good Indian food. I think I was very surprised and we all had a great night with awesome food! I was kinda caught by surprise when we walked in the door. The center is a little dumpy, and the restaurant was very nice inside. The waiter was great. The food was amazing and we tasted each others dishes and we all loved everything we tasted! The wine was good! The cost was very reasonable. NOW - we have to try the lunch! The reviews have me getting hungry and it's 145AM 8)

Sometimes those cravings hit me hard and today I needed my Indian food fix! Natraj has a bottomless champagne lunch buffet on Sundays for $16.99. Not feelin' boozy? Then go for the bottomless mango lassi, iced teas or sodas instead. The wait staff were soft spoken, attentive and made sure our glasses were never empty! I chowed down on the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, pakoras, samosas, chicken tandoori and saffron rice. They also had a goat, lentil, and spicy chicken curry, eggplant mix, grilled spiced vegetables, lamb kebabs, and rice pudding. The salad bar was OK with a small selection of fresh fruit. Their dessert selections was lacking overall, however the overall experience at this restaurant was enough for me to return if I'm ever down in Laguna Hills/mission Viejo/aliso Viejo.

I am surprised that I crave for Indian food....I didn't think i'll like Indian food but a year ago I finally tried it and started to really like it. I am pregnant and I crave for food ALL the time...not just one specific thing but everything. I was craving for Indian food last Friday so my hubby took me to Natraj since its so close to our house and we've been here once before. The interior of Natraj is nice and clean...mthe staff are friendly and service is quick. We ordered the Garlic Nann (my favorite!). The table comes with a couple of different chutney, one is sweet and the other is spicy (the green one). Truly delicious with the complimentary crispy thin bread and garlic naan. For entree we ordered the Chicken Tikka which is a boneless and skinless chicken breast roasted in the tandoor oven topped with onions and green peppers. It comes in a hot skillet and its amazing. THis order comes with saffron rice. The rice is delicious and goes very well with the chicken tikka. We also got a side of Bhindi Masala which is fresh okra sauteed with cumon, ginger, oinion and garlic. This order also came with sauteed tomatoes as well and it comes out more dried which I really love. Between the chicken Tikka, the garlic naan and the bhindi masala...we were full! The portion was perfect for two and no left overs box needed here. I personally like Annaporna in Irvine better but Natraj is just as good...just not better than Annaporna. I'd like to try Natraj's lunch buffet one day soon to see how it compares to dinner. Prices are decent, for two people and what we ordered, we paid $35.00. They also give out coupons at the end of your meal for your next visit! We got a $10 off our next $40 meal....awesome! For sure coming back to use that.

I had a biopsy done a few weeks ago and my boyfriend was sent out for dinner duty so we decided on Indian curry. We ordered the lamb vindaloo, the chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. It was AMAZING! I couldn't believe how much flavor was in the masala. It was great and the portion size - for the price- was more than I would have expected. I am extremely appreciative of how they wrapped the order to go: all individually contained AND wrapped in plastic to prevent leakage. Truly a great experience, and even better left overs.

Been here couple of times and food is consistent every time. Dined here for weekend lunch and it was pretty good. They had about 2 appetizers - veggie pakora and punjabi style veggie stir fry. Pakora was crispy and kept fresh. They had plain white rice, dal makhani, eggplant dish. The eggplant was buttery and tasted sweet. I liked the texture and flavor. On the non veg side, they had tandoori chicken - big pieces of drumstick and thighs. Chicken tikka masala was super yummy and went great with Naan. Finished off lunch with their dessert menu - Gulab jamun and kheer. Jamun was perfect - soft and right amount of sweetness it had. Plenty of parking space around and they have separate hall for private events. Will visit here every time I want to have Indian food.

This place is just wonderful. I don't know how Indians view it but I have loved coming here over the years. They have the best mango lassi I've ever tasted. Their tandori chicken and naan bread it just delicious. Don't get me started on their rice! I'd skip the carrot pudding though...not my thing. One of these days, I'd like to meet a guy that actually wants to come here...most guys are too afraid to try something different...they don't know what they are missing!

Good, solid indian food. The BF and I were craving Indian last night so we yelped and found Natraj nearby. I'm always hesitant to try a new Indian restaurant because I realllly like the place by mt house and am afraid other places will not live up to my flavor expectations. We were pleasantly surprised, though! Great food. quiet place, service was a little slow, but whatever. We weren't in a hurry. Non-vegetarian dinner "for two" is definetly enough to feed 4 hungry people (or 6 moderately peckish ones) for just under $50. Comes with roasted veggies, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, 2 samosas, naan, rice and a dessert. It was all good. Chicken tikka masala was a little different than I've has at other places.. more savory maybe. But it was definitely good- tender chicken, flavorful sauce great for dipping naan in. Saag paneer was good, no complaints there. roasted veggie were on point! Samosas were spicy as all heck, and the naan was chewy and doughy and perfect. We had carrot pudding for dessert, served with slivered almonds. Delish, so sad I didn't have enough room to finish it!

i think this place's got more varieties than other Indian buffets around town, and they are all tasty - so does the regular & garlic naan! I'd definitely come back again if i am craving for some Indian curry and freshly made garlic naan.

I desperately wanted to like this place because I LOVE their location in Nina's Grocery, but sometimes I don't feel like the cafeteria atmosphere. This seemed like it would be the perfect alternative. Beautiful restaurant with food made by the folks that cook for Nina's. I did get that. The food was tasty and the atmosphere is really pretty. We ordered Paneer Pakoras, Chicken Korma, Navratan Korma and Kulfi. Everything tasted great. The plating for the Kulfi (a martini glass) was a little odd and the gob of whipped cream on top was unnecessary (we scrapped it off), but otherwise I have no complains about the food. However, service was lacking. It was lacking enough that we won't go back. The restaurant wasn't very busy and yet the wait to take our drink/appetizer order was quite long. They didn't bring my husband his tea and we didn't see our server for a while, so we eventually had to flag someone else down to ask for it. After we had our entree we wanted to order dessert, and although our server was standing literally 5 feet behind us organizing silverware we couldn't get his attention. Eventually he wandered away, so we flagged down yet another person and asked him for boxes for our leftovers, another tea and a dessert menu. He said okay, but then new customers came in so he went to seat them and tend to other customers. We ended up waiting a good 15 minutes before anyone brought us the dessert menu. Plus, they just left the boxes/bag for leftovers on the table, which was fine at first... until I looked at the next table and noticed their server was actually boxing their food for them. It was just so hard getting any attention because our server was always missing and everyone else was understandably busy with their own tasks.

Large and clean. Service is quick. Lunch buffet has lots of choices and it is good. Would recommend for large groups. Get the garlic naan and mango smoothie. My favs are the saag paneer and tikka Marsala here.

Great Sunday Brunch for the price. Sit at the bar and ask them to turn off the Indian Cricket and turn on American Football. Food gets 4 stars. Fresh and a good mix that changes on occasion. Champagne flows at the bar and its not that nasty stuff they push at the Mexican place up the freeway. Service gets 5 Stars. Look for cupons or ask after you go the first time. Good sign is lots of Indian patrons.

This is my 4th time eating there and it was superb. We went tonight (Tuesday) at 9 p.m. since they close at 10. I got a lamb dish, it was Jong something with red curry sauce, and my sister got an eggplant and potato dish. The red sauce was so good, I was licking my finger and getting the last bit out of the plate. My sister loved hers too. There was enough tender boneless hunks of lamb even for me, and that's a lot. The garlic nan was the beast I've had and it came about 5 tender pieces and one semi-crunchy (which I like) piece on the bottom. We were the last customers of the night. Service was perfect, staff was excellent, place was clean and wonderful. We used the 10 dollar off coupon if you spend 40. They give you another coupon every time. We had to get desert to get it up to 40. They knew I had the coupon when I walked in because I waved it at them and put it right on the table. The restaurant is a little hard to spot since it's in the inside corner of a shopping center, but parking is abundant and close. Really nice place.

My husbands father would take him here when he was a kid, but I guess they recently renovated the place and made a few upgrades? Hubby said the Sunday brunch was amazing and so we decided to give it a whirl. The interior is decorated nicely and I regret not having dressed a little nicer, but they have a side dinning area for common folk. :) The buffet was amazing and probably some of the BEST Indian food I've ever had. I don't know if its because we showed up right at 11am (opening time) and every dish served at the buffet on Sunday was fresh, but we were both really impressed. Drinks are included in the buffet (including champagne) and it was very reasonably priced. There was this huge dish / display in the middle that had potato, mini eggplant and some fresh vegetables, and it was very very good. In fact, every dish I had was very good. I wish I could remember some of the names, the saag corn -creamed spinach was great, the dumplings in a yellow/ orangish sauce are my absolute favorite. My husband loved the lamb dish.... I loved the little mixed vegetable egg foo young type fried pieces. In fact I'm salivating right now thinking of it. They had tandoori chicken which was cooked to perfection, vegetable samosas, fresh fruit, cucumber and salads, and of course basmaati rice. There were many waiters tending to the dishes making sure they were garnished and presented nice. Even the garlic naan was great. I look forward to returning, maybe even for my birthday.. It was really that good. Contrary to some of the reviews below, we did not get sick, the place was a real class act and my new favorite Indian food spot. Really good - I can't speak for the other buffets they offer (lunch and saturday but i would definitely recommend the sunday brunch).

Food is good Manager good Staff not so great with English Banquet room too hot air-condition problems!!! Main hall is well kept & cooler... Sunday Brunch has best food also cost the most . Some items like sheek kobob only on sunday. It's like going to India w/ staff good food but communication problems.

Good quality food but portion sizes small and fairy expensive for what you get. I was disappointed that they wouldn't honor a $50 restaurant.com coupon that I had purchased just before going and called ahead to talk to this location to make sure they would accept the coupon (apparently they didn't understand me on the phone and it was only good at their laguna beach location not the laguna hills location). They do have very good naan bread and banghan bartha (eggplant) was good. Fish dish we tried was not so awesome and lamb was a little tough but quality of food was generally good. They did give me a $10 off coupon anyway. Note that I was able to call restaurant.com afterwards and got a credit for the value of the coupon on my account so no big deal.

Always great food and reasonably priced. There are many locations for this chain but it is surprisingly consistent amongst most locations as far as taste and quality. Highly recommended for an Indian Food craving.

Went here for a team luncheon and had the buffet. Can't complain much on the flavorings since it is a buffet, some people can't take the heat. anyhow, I'm a bread person and the fact that garlic naan comes to your table fresh outta the oven is 5stars for me! I love dipping that buttery garlicky piece of bread into the curries. just delish!!! this place is affordable and clean too! I liked that the buffet had a salad and fruit option too!

I recently ate here for the third time because I've enjoyed their food. This time a large private party was underway. Perhaps this meant staff understaffing or lack of sufficient oversight in the kitchen but I got VIOLENTLY ill a few hours later. I have not been that ill since I vacationed in Cambodia! I called the restaurant to let them know. I was not calling to complain or because I wanted anything. I called as a courtesy. I asked for the manager and was told he was out - hard to believe a restaurant that size wouldn't have a MOD. I left my name and number and NEVER received a call back! I guess I foolishly thought management would want to know a customer got that I'll in their establishment.

The hours of service clearly state 11:00am to 10:00pm. I walked in at 3:00pm and I was not greeted politely. The manager blandly told me they were closed while a worker yelled, "There's no food left," which makes no logical sense at all. I could have been provided with the option for takeout at the least. Great customer service needs to accommodate good food, and I will not be coming back to a business that can't abide by their own operations of service.

My husband and I dine at Laguna Hills Natraj a couple times a month. We have been going there for over 5 years and don't know why we didn't start going there earlier. They have had the Laguna Hills location sincere early 1990's. The servers, most of whom have been there for over 5 years, remember us, what we order, and how we like our food prepared. Our favorite dishes are vindaloo, tikka, and the mixed appetizer sampler. They recently remodeled and have a great atmosphere.

Some of the best food I've ever had, paneer tikka masala, and aloo mutter, mushrooms cashews, (If I am correct) even the peas pulao was the greatest. Ive been here 10 times now and it was great everytime and very well priced..... except one time. I believe it was a Monday night and it MUST have been a different chef because everything came out a bit bland and missing a few things having ordered the exact same thing a 8 days eariler. I mentioned this to the waiter and it was brushed off slightly, but since then only perfection. Sometimes their spice level can be off, ordering hot can be non-existant, mild can be hot (glad it was because I like it spicy!)

Weekday lunch buffet for $11.99, so you can't really go wrong. I don't think any entree off the menu could've competed against that price. They have your standard stuff like tandoori chicken, curry, samosas; so for me, it was plenty of food.

This place is awesome. I have only been here for the lunch buffet and the food and price is wonderful. I am surprised after reading some of the other reviews that everyone is not giving this place 5 stars as it deserves it. Now this being said, I am not from India, I am american Italian, but love Indian food or at least what I have had here. The only thing I would change if anything is since I go here about once every other week is maybe ask for a few different dishes at lunch. Oh... I read in one of the reviews that another girl could not get her boyfriend to go, unfortunately I usually dine here by myself and I am very comfortable doing so. Most of my friends are scared of Indian food and feel like they would be Ben Stiller in the movie Along Came Polly. Now that said, I have to say maybe there is not all 5s as from my experience with friends they are not open to trying Indian food or just like more bland food. Anyways you guys are great.

The food is pretty great here. I will say that. I started coming here in my first trimester, and it was the only thing I could eat with unrelenting morning sickness. Tons of vegetarian options, and great flavor. The service is pretty bad, usually. We come for the weekend buffets, go nuts on spicy foods, and then have to wait forever between water refills. The worst thing is the price. I feel like it's pretty damn ballsy to charge $18/plate for a buffet, even with unlimited drinks and dessert. I top out at two plates, 1 mango lassi, and a fistful of gulab jamuns. I've eaten Indian buffets all my life, and never seen anything over $12. Today, we went for Mother's Day, and they had raised the price to $21/plate. Happy Mother's Day, Moms! We asked a few different servers why, and they said it was because the buffet was "extended." Were the tables longer? Were they serving until later in the day? BECAUSE IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME STUFF. Where I was already on the fence with the "you're pushing it" price, that left a really bad taste in my mouth as a mom on Mother's Day. Would have been classy to offer all Moms $5 off or something, and make a solid customer out of me. Can't imagine how regulars who attend brunch frequently there (used to be us) who aren't moms (like two college kids) would feel being charged more just because it's a holiday. It sucks. And now I'm cured of my pricey Natraj addiction.

This is a nice little Indian place in the corner of a strip mall. The food is reasonably priced for the quantity that is provided. The curry is flavorful but it was hard for me to distinguish the different flavors. The wait staff is quite attentive though sometimes I felt they were a bit pushy when suggesting extra things to order.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant of all time (and I have enjoyed many Indian restaurants in many locations). I have been coming to the Natraj buffet since I was a baby with my family. It is a favorite weekend lunch spot, and for great reason. The tikka masala here is expertly spiced, and the lentils are simply the best I have ever had. The buffet is a fantastic deal, and the dishes served are switched up so it is always a little different. The best days are when they have carrot pudding - a truly amazing and unique desert! Natraj has provided my personal standard for Indian restaurants, and more often than not, I find myself saying, "It was good, but not as good as Natraj."

Great Mother's Day brunch. I've always been a fan of Natraj. We generally go to the one in Long Beach, but my family went to the Laguna Hills location to take my mother out for Mother's Day. Perfect place for it. Good food and no long wait.

I've been coming here since I was a little girl. The restaurant has been renovated within the past couple of years (personally I dug the dark and mysterious prior environment) but the remodeled environment is pretty! I come here for one thing : ALL YOU CAN EAT LUNCH. I die, quality Indian food and you can eat to your hearts content. I wouldn't recommend this place for dinner because lunch is so much more economical.

Came here for their lunch buffet today with my family. Last time i was here was before they had remodeled so it had been a while. It is very spacious and nicely decorated now. I thought their buffet was just okay, really nothing special. They did have the usual selection that all indian buffets carry but their service here is just slow. We had to wait for naans for a long time and when the naan had come out they were so hard and hard to chew. We also ordered mango lassi's that took a while to come out. I gave it three stars just because of the ambiance and food. I would give it one star for the service. This place also needs to have staff that are a lot nicer.

Just got back from here with the lady. We were sat near the front door, which is ultimately the back of the restaurant from the server's perspective. Our order was taken quickly and the food came out in a timely manner, except they missed our two orders of naan bread. I noticed the table next to us got theirs a bit after their meals came out, so I gave it a few minutes. I ended up asking another server for our naan, and yet another server came and said it would be a couple of minutes. Not really a big deal, and not the reason for two stars, but naan is integral to my Indian food experience, and I was a bit naan-plussed. It ended up coming out when we were a bit more than halfway done with our entrees, and I had even stopped eating in anticipation. The food was good, but mine was a little less than hot, we'll call it "warm", not quite "tepid". I cannot speak for the lady. But that's when the service got worse. Our server seemed to avoid us from that point on. He was singing to all his other tables and not even approaching ours, even after my futile attempts at eye contact. We asked him for boxes and the check, and waited a good 20 minutes for the boxes, which we got after asking other servers. I had my card on the table and an imploring look on my face, but ultimately had to ask yet another server to take it. I'm not one to be uppity or even wave a server down, so I felt a bit neglected. Having 10 years of serving experience under my belt, I'm very generous with what I'll put up with from my servers, but this was overwhelmingly frustrating. And now we're late for our evening outing.

Great experience! wandered in here after watching "100 step journey" and this place fit the bill. It is large and clean and very quick. The food was VERY good. We had Malai Kofta a first for me and it was delish! We also had Chicken tikka masala which was good but a bit too spicy for my tolerance. Next time I will be sure to ask for a milder sauce. The naan was good as was the lassi. They also have a full bar!

Came here for the lunch buffet and it was great! The tandoori chicken is amazing and the chicken marsala was really good. They had a new dish to try..I don't remember exactly what it was called but it had roasted eggplant in it and a nice spicy kick! It was so good, I ate it with the garlic naan. They have some fruit too (cantaloupe, melon, oranges and watermelon) so it makes a nice balance with all the yummy spicy food. We washed it down with a nice Chai Tea! Which is also really good!!! The decor is really comfortable as well. Tvs are around playing sports or news. They had some nice Indian music playing in the background as well. The servers are all very quick to refill anything we had. They even kept the naan and tea coming! We will definitely come back for the lunch buffet! They even gave us a coupon for next time.

If there is a better Indian restaurant in so cal, I can't find it. Usually go for the lunch Buffett which has great selection of meat and vegetation dishes. The Garlic Nan is flawless and delicious. Service is fast and helpful. Recently they remodeled and expanded with a full bar. I'm not sure how that is going because mostly we go to buffet. Lots of soccer and international stuff on the various TVs all around. Don't drive heavy equipment after. My family took me there for Father's Day a year ago and I have a precious photo of them all passed out after pigging out on fabulous cuisine.

Being an Indian myself I found the food to be mediocre and way too overpriced for its value. It's clear no indian would spend the ridiculous charges for their food. You can get same quality else where for cheaper. Oh and if you want rude service and get ripped off this is the place for you.

This is my third review of Natraj and I am noticing definite improvement each time I visit. I am officially a fan now and will be frequenting this location regularly. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere and management who listens to advice from their patrons. Customer service still has room for improvement and could earn a fifth star from me in the future.

Restaurant is bigger than you expect from front and was busy when we visited on a Sat night, but no wait. Pickles with Pappadum were not great. We asked for lime pickles and chutney but got some sliced red peppers instead and nothing sweet. For entree we chose Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Balti and selected both to be extra spicy. The waiter impressively never wrote any orders down. However he instead kept coming back to confirm or just forgot stuff and was then ingratiatingly apologetic. So more annoying than impressive! The Balti was excellent - just like back home (UK) where it originated. Naan was also good. Unfortunately the Vindaloo was dry and burnt. To offset or mask this it seemed to be over spiced with something - cinnamon? It was very hot but not pleasant at all. Prices were OK.

The food is alright I guess, but I've definitely had better to be completely honest. It kind of had an unpleasant smell -not the food- when I first walked in. However the aesthetics of the restaurant are pretty nice, and clean. But what really annoyed me is that my server made me feel like I was being rushed to order my food, and he just wasn't very friendly.

My husband, sister-in-law and I came here for lunch on 10/29. The food was great, fresh & warm with lots of choices. The service was lacking & that is the reason for only three stars. We were never offered a beverage besides the water. Our naan came about midway through our first plate. When that was gone the waiter offered us another basket but it never came. Then we were told we had to pay by cash because something was wrong with the credit card machine - these things happen but it was the way we were told- " here's your check & you must pay in cash our machine isn't working" & walked away abruptly. This isn't the first time service has been an issue- we come here for the food & tolerate the bad customer service.

Being from the UK I am often disappointed with Indian food in the states. Let's face it, it's just never as good. However this place is closet I've found to a curry back home. I always ask for my dishes to be 'vindaloo hot' and these guys were the first in the states to know what I was talking about.

Love Indian curry flavors and Natraj didn't disappoint. We had the lunch buffet and tried a little of everything. The price was right and everything was tasty. The only thing I didn't like was the pickled carrots and the donut hole like dessert soaked in a sweet rose syrup. The tandoori chicken looked like it might be dry but it wasn't. The naan bread was hot and fresh. The puréed eggplant curry dish and one of the chicken curry dishes were my favs. There wasn't any seafood or lamb in the buffet line but we only paid $11.99. Will be back for the buffet lunch again and want to come back for dinner to try the lamb and seafood dishes...maybe at the Laguna Beach location. The decor was very attractive and a surprise because it doesn't look like much from the outside.

The food was awesome but slightly overpriced for the portion sizes. Friendly staff but service was a bit slow. The restaurant was full so it appeared they understaffed. Chicken vindaloo and Tikka were excellent. We plan to return to check out their lunch menu.

Don't judge a book by its cover!!!! My wife and I drove up to this tiny strip mall of the beaten path and the parking lot was empty so we almost passed.WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN!! You walk in and it is sensory overload with the smells of curry and garlic. The man behind the counter (found out was the owner) greeted us warmly. He gave my wife a taste of everything that she wanted. I got the lamb curry and chicken curry. My wife got the spinach something or other and the cauliflower and potatoes and they were all really good. I have eaten at at least 20 other Indian restaurants and for the food and the price it was great. The Naan was flowing and because we were the only ones there can't complain about the service. The only reason I can think there was nobody in there was it was 4 pm on a Saturday. The garlic Naan was good. Don't miss Niki's!!!

Came here early on a weekday night. The place had only about four other tables and I figured we would get fast service which is key when dining with small children. Our waiter took our order fast but then the waiting game started. It took 50 minutes for our food. Sure it tasted good but not worth the pain and suffering. Won't be back.

For the area, it's not a bad choice for Indian buffet lunches. They try to make it kind of fancy with cloth napkins and water goblets. There's a nice selection of vegetarian and meat (chicken) options but nothing too out there. You get the usual saag paneer, chicken tikka and samosas. I am not a fan of the pakoras as they're quite hard (because they're small). You get your choice of regular or garlic naan with your buffet lunch and the service is attentive, often refilling your glass. The downside is that it's pricey at $12 or so a person (with tax, pre-tip). They offer coupons for BOGO buffet lunches which makes it much more palatable of a price, but if you are dining alone for lunch (which I often am), it's not a place I would frequent often since I can't really finish that much food. It would be nice to see a one-trip option (as with Mongolian BBQ places) since their buffet prices tend to be on the higher side compared to other Indian buffet lunch places in OC.

$12.99 for "all you can eat" plus garlic nan? That's as good as it gets! I visit at least once every two weeks with my wife or my INDIAN friends and it's always a good time. I would recommend getting there AFTER 12pm though because the food HEATS UP a little better. Every time I'm there around 11:30am to beat the rush, the food is "warm" or slightly cold. The first "rush" is around 11:45 but most people only have 1 plate. The curries, vegetables, chicken are good... Salad and fruit is below average but I'm not going to Natraj for honeydew and cucumbers.

We've been coming here for almost a year. At times we place an order to go. The staff tend to be nice and helpful. When placing an order over the phone, you really need to spell things out and ask them to repeat your order. I've ordered items and when my husband brings the food home, at times it's not what I've ordered. Our typical orders... Palak Paneer (Spinach with cheese) - Delicious! Aloo Gobi (potatoes and cauliflower) - Delicious! Tandoori Lamb, Kabobs, Chicken - Delicious! Fish curry (several varieties) - Delicious! Plain Naan - Fresh and Yummy! Rice pilaf - Delicious! Aside from getting the wrong order from time to time, this place is incredible! I love the food and how they custom make the heat factor to what you can handle. Lucky we have Natraj close to home so we can have it at least once a week.

I love this place. The photos here do not show the spectacular remodel. Linen and table clothes, silverware and nice glasses. I ever only go for lunch buffet or Sunday Brunch. The prices to me seem very very low and the food quality seems very very high. Sadly I watch and hear horribly rude OC people demand absolutely stupid things. I love everything and never can eat as much as I hope I can. They NEVER let my bottomless champagne glass stay empty for long. Great service and tasty food and a BIG plus for SUPER COMFORTABLE SEATING!! It's wonderful. On a side note,.. If u hate spices and flavor,..why in gawdsnames are you eating Indian food? Go to Denny's instead.

I don't claim to be a connoisseur of fine Indian cuisine as shocking as that may be to some self righteous food snobs here with either no friends, less than 10 reviews, or still living in their mom's basement ... I mean, after all it's yelp*! A forum for everyone, no matter what background you have jackasses!! 'And now back to our regular programming... I had a chance to try the lunch buffet the other week in between client meetings... It was pretty good! 'And for an $11 lunch buffet, what do you expect?...(Fire & Ice in Anaheim is still number one - The variety, ambiance, and all for only $10/person. Dinner is $17/person) Fire + Ice - yelp.com/biz/fire-ice-an… I arrived about ten minutes before 11am, the buffet runs from 11am - 3pm. I highly suggest getting here early since you will have first shot at the spread... I imagine the closer it is to three, the more haggard the chafing dishes get. I walked in and was greeted by Ranjan who was very helpful in answering my questions about the overall menu choices. I haven't had Indian/Pakistani food from some time... An ex-gf of mine first introduced me to Indian food, loved it, but after we split up, ordering was just a sad, painful thing... 'More so than the breakup... So, what better way to re-familiarize myself than at a buffet! If you're not to Indian food-savy, great way to try it! 'And don't be afraid to ask questions, it's the only way you'll learn about the food!... 'Or you can also skim the yelp*views before heading down, I did both. 8) The food was all very tasty, a wide range of flavors and spices. 'Of the handful of times I've tried Indian food, I never had anything very "spicy," the heat variety. There was a couple of dishes that had a bit of a kick to them, turning up the heat a couple of notches... I was surprised. I have read that many Indian restaurants play the spicy aspect down due to the delicate nature of many Westerner's palates, cookie n' cream pansy asses... Just kidding but that little bit of unexpected extra heat to the dishes made a huge difference in what I thought Indian food was! I think my favorite dish was the Chicken Tiki Masala. All the dishes were very good but if I had to pick one, that would be it. Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/tzXM… *Beneath all that saucy goodness in the above photo is some tasty chucks of chicken! I also ordered a Mango Lassi - 'Tasted like a creamy mango shake/smoothie, yum. Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/tzXM… I tried a little bit of everything in the line up, even some fruit which is a rarity for me being a huge meat'atarian. All the cut fruit looked very fresh, the honeydew melon was sweet, the watermelon and cantaloupe, not so much. Lunch Buffet: $11 Mango Lassi: $4 Total w/tax + tip: $20 Definitely coming back, with re-enforcements! Aloha! Food: 4+ Ambiance: 3 Service: 4 Value: 5

I've have eaten here a few times, and have never been disappointed. I have been there for dinners, and recently tried the buffet. For a first timer I would recommend the buffet,so you can get a idea of many of their tasty items they offer. The buffet includes champagne or any drink you would like to have ,all with refills, I got the very tasty mango lassie. The service is great too, very friendly and they make everyone feel welcome. I will be going back :)

I have been coming to this place for years, even before the new renovation! The food was just as good then as it is now. If you really want to experience indian food then come during the lunch buffet every day from 12-3pm I believe. Then you can try a variety of different curries and vegetable stews and their fried vegetable samosas which are amazing. The new layout is much more open, spacious, and modern. The service is always on point they come around frequently to refill our waters and deliver fresh baskets of their naan bread--(which is seriously the best). You can go as many times back to the buffet for more food, however every single time I have gone I'm always full after my first plate. I usually go with my sister and we always finish our meal with a cup of their Chai and dessert-(which is also included in the buffet). I love this place, and my whole family loves this place. If you haven't been you need to come and try them out!

Everything was very delicious! The service was equally as excellent. We were greeted and seated as soon as we entered into the restaurant. It was a very large buffet lunch with lots of choices. I tried just about everything they had to offer and i was satisfied with everything. The lunch buffet was $12 per person plus tip. The food was spicy, flavorful, and filling. They serve Naan to your table, and the basket had an anise, a plane, and a garlic naan. I never would have ordered the anise one, but it was delicious. I wouldn't have known as i awlays go for garlic naan. I will probably switch it up from now on. Beautiful tapestries of Mandalas adorn the walls of this establishment. A beautiful marriage of good food and lovely aesthetic. I'd recommend adding some Raita to your meal to balance the spice.

My bad. Should have read all the reviews first. Three years ago I would have given it sterling stars but what happened? They completely renovated the place and it now is one big dark room. Nope. That doesn't work for the ambiance. Five adults celebrating a birthday and we ordered plenty but waited soooooooo long for drinks and food that it became totally ridiculous. This was a Friday night at 6 pm. We have eaten Indian food for 47 yrs and all over the place and this by far was the poorest. I will give the Naan five stars and the shrimp coconut curry but thats all. The Rice was gummy and dark, the lamb almost inedible. The chicken fair and why give us 1/4 cup of raita for five people? And two Tbs of mango chutney of which all was ordered separately? The drinks are pricey and not to the liking of one of our guests. To top it off, only one bathroom available for the whole place. Not going back.

I gave 2 stars. 1 star because the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated. Nice ambience. I gave another star because they were very nice. The food was not great. The Somosas were flavorful but not crunchy enough. The saag tasted like spinach only. The rice was not cooked enough. The curry was decent. We spent $90 on 4 dishes, garlic naan and Somosas not worth it.

Wow this was good food!! I'm craving their naan again! It was so soft and warm and flavorful. We got the garlic naan and would definitely recommend it!! We split orders of the nutty chicken and tikki masala. Goodness they were so flavorful and delicious. The nut one was my favorites. Nutty! The bartender has a menu he made and I got the tamarind mojito. Best drink I've ever had! Bacardi rum, tamarind(syrup?), lime and mint. They make it strong! Definitely going to make this a regular spot of ours. One downside, it's a bit pricy for the portion size. $5 for bread? come on. And about $14 for each of the chicken dishes.

My family and I went here for the lunch buffet the other day. It was much nicer than most Indian buffets I'd been to. There was a great selection including the traditional favorites like Chicken Tikka as well as some new selections like roasted cauliflower in some kind of curry sauce. I was impressed with the selection of vegetables, I'm vegetarian and had TONS of options. The two dessert puddings were yummy and the service was great. The price was also affordable. I definitely recommend.

The restaurant could use more decorations for a better atmosphere, i went there for my first time after brunch received GREAT service. I went back for the buffet i was very dissapointed, staff was very rude, they messed up my order questioned what i wanted ect...i recomend you don't go for the buffet, go there before or after the buffet, you get GREAT service if you go after or before the buffet.

I've only ever come here for their lunch buffet, which is always amazing. It has all the classics: chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, saag paneer, samosas, and those yummy sweet dough ball things. Decent price for the buffet and you really do get your money's worth. The buffet food is always fresh, hot, and all around perfect; nothing like other buffets, where you're not sure how long some of the food has been sitting there...The staff is always very polite and attentive. Their cocktails....oh my goodness! I order one every time...no matter what time of the day it is ;) last time I got their tamarind mojito, which is TO DIE FOR!!! But be careful, all of their cocktails are super strong! You'll definitely be stumbling out the doors when all is said and done! I strongly suggest this restaurant, especially for a date night!

I had a huge craving for Indian food and this place hit the spot. The Naan garlic bread was amazing. I had the roasted eggplant with tomatoes and onions. It was flavorful and satisfying. It's my new favorite Indian restaurant in the area. I can't wait to go back........oh yes, the service was super friendly.

When visiting orange county drove by and discovered this awesome little gem. The food is outstanding; prices are fair and service is very good. I am not Indian, but have many Indian friends and know what good food is. This place makes truly home made Indian fare that is fresh, tasty and affordable. They can make it as hot or mild as you like. Any negative comments on this site are from the snobs in the area and do not count. This place is fantastic!

I really liked the food. I lived in India for about 21 years since birth and I would say this is one of the places where you could have authentic North Indian food. Very good customer service and excellent ambiance. Had gone for a lunch buffet which costs around $12 + tip. Will return for sure. Definitely worth it!

Natraj is America's answer to Indian food and what I mean by that is it's mildly spiced but flavorful. After meeting for coffee earlier, a friend and I decided to meet for Indian food the next day but getting home we realized tomorrow was too far away so an hour later, we were meeting up again for lunch. Go figure. Some cravings are just too strong to ignore. Unlike the Natraj Cuisine chains, this location is a fine dining sit down restaurant. We went for the lunch buffet that is about $10 a person. They had plenty of vegetarian options with basmati rice but sadly only one meat option - the chicken tikka boneless, bone-in and tandoori. Other Indian restaurants offer lamb or goat. With my lunch, I also ordered the mango lassi which was surprisingly lukewarm. The meal itself was pleasing. You won't be disappointed but if you're expecting an explosion of spices you won't get that. And as far was spicy, like I said earlier, the dishes are fairly mild. My buffet options consisted of the pakoras with the mint chutney, basmati rice with raita (yogurt), saag paneera (spinach with homemade cheese), and boneless chicken tikka masala. The basmati rice was a little crunchy probably because I got the last scraps from the bottoms that got a little cooked from the burner underneath. Make a note to grab the fresh stuff from the top or wait for a new batch. We got a single serving of naan which unfortunately wasn't fresh and piping hot. Naan is best served fresh from the clay oven, that is if they have one. You can usually tell if they do because the naans are prepared quick, hot, and they're usually doughy. These were warm and we only got one basket and a plain naan at that. There was no option for a garlic naan. If you want decent Indian food, it's best to check this place out at lunch for their buffet. Their regular menu is overpriced and they don't have a la carte option so they preserve their Indian traditions in that sense by charging you for any extra items like rice, naan, and raita while still paying at least $15-20 for your entree and refills are not free. Also avoid the chains. You would think they would all be consistent but they're not. In fact, they sold their Belmont Shore location in Long Beach but you can actually get spicy Indian food there and if you're looking for spicy Indian food in OC, look no further than Royal Khyber in Costa Mesa - a bit pricey but a great Indian culinary fest. Natraj's, which still decent and good, satisfies my craving for Indian food but not at the spice threshold I've come to love.

This place is good for the price you pay. The buffet is my favorite. It has just little bit of everything that I love. Chicken tiki masala is my favorite over the rice!!! Yummmy! I usually eat here at least once month with my coworkers! We love this place

  • Colleen J.

This place is legit! The lunch buffet is the best deal in town and I can eat my weight in tikka marsala so bring -it-on! The food is excellent, the selection is vast and every dish is bursting with flavor. Quick warning, the white creamy dish at the end of the buffet is kheer, rice pudding, it's a dessert but it's right next to the other dishes, so I just lobbed it on my plate with all the other stuff and even though I dig the salty sweet vibe, it's probably best enjoyed not folded into garlic naan. The restaurant itself is a hidden cave in the corner of a typical South OC strip mall, tucked away between a Big Lots and an optometrist. There are no windows in the dark dining room, so there is no shame in pigging out. It's an excellent choice for people with babies, it's dark so the baby will sleep and because it's a buffet, you get your food quick and hightail it out of there before your bundle of joy even wakes up.

I was here for the lunch buffet and its overpriced especially for the small selection of food they serve. I've been to numerous other Indian buffets and they are more affordable with a larger selection of food.

Indian food is something of a novelty in south OC, and where it does appear it's typically in the form of a small chain, like Natraj. This location is tucked away inside a large strip mall with Dick's Sporting Goods. The interior is pleasant, roomy, and unassuming. There were a handful of people in for dinner when I was here earlier tonight. I got my standard-bearer for Indian food, the chicken tikka masala. It was tasty, had the right amount of spice, but the basmati rice was on the salty side and made the overall effect a little strong. The cubed chicken chunks were tender and moist, and the garlic naan is good here but on the thin side. My service was very good, and my food came quickly. If you're new to Indian food and are in the area, stop by for a decent meal. And then go to the Long Beach Natraj, and be prepared to have your world rocked.

Came for group lunch buffet a few times. My co-worker has a stack of $10 off $40 coupons so we always have a good deal. Food and service is excellent. They serve one of the best naan bread I have tasted. Turns me into an Indian food addict. Best Indian buffet in OC.

On Labor day almost every restaurant was closed, except for Natraj Indian Cuisine. My boyfriend and I decided to give in to my Indian food craving. We walked in about 9:30pm and there were a few guests dining in the large and split dining rooms. It was certainly not crowded when we arrived. The interior was rather fancy with the white table cloths and flowers on each table. The waiters were very prompt and friendly. My own rating system for each dish is at the end of each menu description. 1 = Blegh...no taste, will not order it again. 5 = Yumm! Delicious! must get it again! We ordered: Pappadaum Crispy lentil wafers seasoned with black pepper. 5/5 - Complimentary. Very thin, super crisp and had a nice spice to it. Went great with the tamarind and spicy green minty sauces. Garlic Naan Leavened bread sprinkled generously with fresh garlic. 5/5 - The naan was fantastic! Freshly baked and had a perfect garlicky and cilantro taste. One basket is not enough! Raita Cultured yogurt with cucumber and tomatoes. 5/5 - Light and refreshing! It was a great accompaniment to the spicy dishes that we ordered. Mixed Tandoori Platter An assortment of tandoori specialties: Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka, Seekh Kabob, Lamb Tikka & Fish Kabob. 2/5 - Comes out on a hot sizzling cast iron plate. Had a nice variety of tandoori meats however, the meats were rather dry. Chicken Tikka Masala: Tandoori roasted Chicken Tikka (breast meat) in a velvety sauce of tomato, cream. onions & spices. 4/5 - I loved LOVED the thick and creamy masala curry. Had great flavor and the spicy level was amazing. The chicken in this dish was rather dry as well. I think the curry sauce makes up for the dry chicken. The curry flavor is where its at! Saffron Rice: Aromatic basmati rice with saffron & cumin seeds. 5/5 - Lightly flavored with saffron, the saffron gave the rice a pretty vibrant yellow color. yummy! I loved their willingness to indulge us in our spicy palates. My Boyfriend and I were particular on how we liked our spicy level (extra extra spicy to be exact) The waiter got us exactly what we asked for and I appreciated it! I liked how they gave us a coupon for our next visit! I had an overall yummy experience and will certainly visit again when my curry/naan cravings stir up again! Enjoy~

Most expensive Naan ever and not the tastiest. Service needs work, specially on take out orders. Food is okay.

The food is very flavorful and has the perfect amount of spice. It is a very large restaurant and the service is good. The Garlic Naan Bread is good, but it didn't have that true garlic kick I was looking for. On the other side, the Chicken Tikka Masala is excellent. I highly recommend this place for good Indian food.

My stepmother and I visited this restaurant for the first time this Thursday for a late dinner. The decor was pleasant, as was the service staff. We were greeted very politely and shown to our table immediately. The restaurant was very spacious with a very open feel, not cramped. The decor was very ethnic in feel but not overdone. We had the chicken tikka masala and the chicken vindaloo, both of which I highly recommend. The waiter warned me that the vindaloo would be very spicy and I assured him that I was counting on it! The meals came with rice at no additional cost (bonus) and were fragrant and cooked to perfection. I did not find the vindaloo overly spicy as I was warned, but then not everyone likes their food as spicy as I do. It was still very good! We also had the garlic nan which was very good. We ate too much to have room for dessert, so I'll have to try that on my next trip down! It was a good deal for the money spent. We will be back!

Good stuff... had the lunch buffet. All items looked hot and fresh and well stocked. The spice level was very mild (too mild for me), but that's understandable, considering they have a wide audience to cater to. My favorite there was the places of naan, saag paneer, tandori chicken (not dry at all but still very flavorful inside), a chickpea dish, lentils and cabbage. Their curry was pleasantly different from what I expected, but tikka marsal was not as good as I had hoped (had some spice that's different from my other experiences with tikka marsala), but decent. The fried mixed veggie fritters had good seasoning so it was not just a flavorless fried ball of dough. But the veggie disappeared in the batter. So while the batter was good, the veggie was indistinguishable. There was a lemon chickpea dumpling dish that I did not like. It was an odd mix of lemon and soggy dough. Just did not fit my taste. Service was prompt as they kept picking up our finshed plates and always refreshed our basket of naan. Yummy!

Great Indian Food! We typically get take out from Natraj but there restaurant is actually quite nice considering it is located in one of the countless drab southland strip malls. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and interesting. While waiting with my 5 year old daughter for takeout, we asked about the various hindu sculptures in the restaurant and the maitre d' was very happy to explained to us who the various deities were and what their story is. A delicious and informative meal!

It's been so comforting to know that there's a decent Indian place in the area. So comforting, in fact, that I never felt the need to stop by Natraj until this past weekend. I used to find Indian food way too heavy and whenever my family went for some naan and masala, they knew better than to invite me. A group of 6 of us stopped by for dinner service on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (I keep noting if it was on a holiday weekend in case that has any effect). While two of us waited for the rest to appear the waiter, although attentive, seemed a little impatient. Hey dude, our party is on their way, just bring us that bottle of wine and let us enjoy this outrageous decor (take a peek at the ceilings next time you're here). The table filled within 15 minutes and wine glasses were brought out, drinks were poured, and while catching up with old friends and meeting new ones the waiter came by a few too many times to ask if we were ready. I like attentive service, but I felt like I was being watched too closely. We each ordered a dish and shared most of them: shrimp and chicken vindaloo, bharta, oh my! As soon as we ordered, service went back to normal - very tidy and efficient. The food was pretty standard Indian. It's just like Italian food where you don't notice unless it's extraordinary or someone really doesn't know what they're doing. It's kind of nice that you get an ethnic food experience in a quiet Laguna Hills shopping center on a Saturday night without having to wait and getting very attentive service. Indian food is not high on my list of cravings, but I wouldn't say no to coming back to Natraj.

Natraj was pretty fancy. Lots of glasses and silverware and cloth napkins, it made me feel like a big-shot. I went there for lunch, it was 10.99 for the buffet. I normally don't get buffets, but I went with people from my work, and I easily succumb to peer pressure. The rice was good, so was the flatbread that was brought to the table, but that stuff is just filler. There were 4 types of chicken, all were unique and good, the curry chicken was far and away my favorite. People are always hating on the way curry smells, but I thought it was really good There were some lentil and eggplant dishes, the lentil was good, the eggplant was meh. But if you are into eggplant I imagine you will dig on it. Indian food is not really my thing, but I'm glad I tried Natraj.

Never cater for your party or wedding! What he served at the tasting is not what we got for the event. I literally threw most of the stuff away in the trash. The kulfi was mostly ice crystals, the khasta kachori was just plain puri with a smidgen of masala you could barely see, the ragda was awful and so on. The sheer arrogance of the owner and putting down other caterers did not make it any better.

I'll keep this short and to the point, The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean, the food was good and so was the service. My only issue was that the server smelled like he hadn't showered in a while and it was off-putting.

Last week, I dropped by the Natraj Tandoori in the Quail Hill shopping center, and enjoyed my takeout from there, so thought I'd drag the husband out to try the lunch buffet at the actual sit-down restaurant in Laguna Hills. Weekday lunch buffet is $9.99 per person. Food: Eehhhh... just a-ok, nothing great to write home about. I personally thought the vegetarian dishes were better than the chicken ones, and I was a bit disappointed that chicken was the only meat option available. Too bad. Maybe weekdays are chicken only? Not sure, but makes me miss the Indian lunch buffets up in the Bay Area that have a little more variety for the meat eaters. The dishes aren't too consistent. For instance, we liked the okra dish (bhindi masala), but when my husband went for seconds, the new batch was way too salty. It was a shame because the okra looked so green and fresh. :( Service was ok. They were pretty good with filling up with water (I did have to ask once), but we just got one basket of naan. I admit, the naan was good, but usually places are a little more free flowing than just one serving. (We just got regular naan - but I noticed the table next to us got garlic naan... are we supposed to specifically ask for that? Not sure...) Will I be going back for the buffet? Probably not, as nothing really made me want to go back for more.

sunday champagne brunch at $15 is a better deal than the monday - saturday brunch until 3pm for $10. you get a free drink with the sunday brunch (mango lassi, etc), and more options for food that isn't included in the saturday brunch (i.e. lamb, samosas, maybe even tandoori paneer) i'm looking forward to NOT eating dinner tonight. 2 meals for the price of one. what a deal. water refill service is excellent. even after we paid the bill, the water was flowing. they weren't stingy with the naan refill either. see Jason S.'s pics. i used his iphone and account to take the pics. the iphone Yelp app is pretty darn cool.

I love Natraj!!! I used to live in Laguna Nigel, and I recently moved to Newport Beach. I have tried other places, but nothing beats Natraj! Whenever I'm down south, I always pick up Natraj on my way home. The Chicken Tikka Masala is the best ever!!! The staff is always so friendly, and the food is amazing!

Unfortuantely, this is now the only Indian place that is reasonably close to my place. When my wife and I first moved down to Mission Viejo, we tried Natraj twice ordering different items each time. The breads (paratha, garlic naan) are tasty, but I've been consistently disappointed by everything else. The vegetarian entrees were mediocre compared to other Indian restaurants (and we've eaten at quite a few). After two less than amazing experiences, we gave up on Natraj for several months. Just the other day, however, we were desperate for Indian food and decided that it wasn't worth driving all the way to Irvine or elsewhere in OC, so we ordered from Natraj one last time, and it will definitely be the last time. I ordered Shrimp Tandoori, and for around $18 it was a complete ripoff. The shrimp tasted ok I guess, but the price is completely ridiculous for the quality and the small portion. It was like 6 shrimp. I would probably have given Natraj 2.5 or 3 stars, but this place is definitely not worth the price so I dropped it to 2 stars. Save your money and make the trip up I-5 to another spot next time you need Indian food.

I grew up in an area with A LOT of Indian restaurants, so I've had my share of Indian cuisine. I have to say that in South OC this is my favorite place (along with there Laguna Beach location). I have eaten in places where I thought the Naan was a bit better, or the Masala a bit better, but across the board, this place is very, very good... Portions are generous, they deliver if you'd like, there buffet is fantastic, service is great... What else can I say? Oh, they have done a lovely remodel and it's quite a nice space to take friends, family, or business associates!

This review is for the AYCE lunch only. $11 lunch buffet with 2 appetizers (samosa and pakora) 4 veggie dishes, 3 chicken dishes, rice, garlic naan, 2 desserts, salad and fruits; comparable to India Cook House and Clay Oven, definitely better than Natraj Tandoori, but not as good as Sagaar, Royal Khyber, or Chakra. For the price, it was a very good lunch. The rice pudding had sprinkles of pistachios in it, very delicious. The garlic naan was good, although a bit thinner than what I'm use to. I especially enjoyed the chicken masala, the chicken was so tender and flavorful, the sauce was creamy and perfect for dipping the naan. The rest of the dishes were milder, I dipped the samosa in the chicken curry to give it more flavor. I like spice in my food, especially Indian food, but I guess buffets are milder to accommodate the majority. I will have to try their regular dinner menu next time.

I concur with Carol H.'s overall score of 3.5. I came here on a food adventure one evening around 10 pm. I got roti, paneer tikka masala, and lamb curry. I forget if we got rice too or if we were given rice. Boyfriend and co. love roti and curry as a dipping sauce. They were enamored. They talked about it for days. They probably had dreams about little lambs turning into curry. My paneer, rice, and roti combo was good, but I felt like the paneer could use more spices. I enjoyed it, but I didn't day dream about it like my homeboys did. Indian food is usually on the pricy side, so I'm not surprised this place is a wee bit more than I'd like to pay, but *should shrug*. We will definitely be back.

Several years ago, a few people from my work came here for lunch. Everyone who ate the chicken from the buffet got food poisoning over the weekend, including myself. One of my co-workers even had to go to the hospital she was so dehydrated and sick from the food poisoning. Even though these things can happen, I will never go back to this place.

I've been here twice (both times for the Sunday brunch) and always had a wonderful experience. Aside from the amazing food (5 stars), the service deserves a big 5 stars as well! The waiters here are so nice, friendly and attentive. They come by to refill your drinks without you even asking. And they smile at you like they really care about having you there. I have been to other Indian restaurants and I have experience not so pleasant service. Sometimes they don't even say hi or smile at you. Natraj is like no other Indian restaurant I've been to. Great place!

Okay so first off not impressed at all. Maybe just by the wrapping of the food and thats about it. I ordered MEDIUM for the spice and it came out extremely spicy.. I could barely eat it. The Lamb they have there in curry is not good at all.. its the worst ive ever had anywhere... The Naan that you buy they don't really put much in... and the Chicken Curry was basically really really dry chicken and ALL curry sauce.. and i ordered 2 entrees and they gave me one small side of rice... really?

Overall: 3.5 stars. The food is really good with a nice variety of choices included in the lunch buffet ($11). I've only been here for lunch since I imagine that dinner could get a bit pricey. I love the multitude of strong Indian spices in the dishes! I admit, I am one of those people who had to acquire a taste for Indian food. It was just too overpowering for me when I first tried it a decade ago. But now I crave it and am so glad I found this local restaurant. The staff is courteous and helpful if you have any questions. It has a nice atmosphere and gets plenty of business. The only minor downside is the outdated decor, but who cares -- the food is what really counts!

I've been to the buffet here many, many times. Obviously, when food is being prepared en masse it is not going to likely be tailored to your specific tastes. Nonetheless, I find that they don't make the food bland (I have been to other buffets that were so bland it is shameful.. it is Indian food). If you want to further kick up the spiciness, they have decent chutney options to help out. Overall, the food is good and the ambience is nice. My only complaint (minor) is that service can be a bit slow sometimes.

Loved this place! Tucked away in a corner of a strip mall, scores high on my list of Indian places. I eat Indian food as often as possible, as it is my favorite food, and when I travel on business, I make an effort to try the local Indian restaurants. I travel at least once a month, so that adds up to a lot of Indian food. So there's my street cred. Ordered naan, mango lassi, chicken makhani, and lamb pasanda. Second best makhani I've had, everything else was really good, too. Thick lassi, soft naan, yummy goodness. Great service. They brought out papadums with chutney before we ordered, which is always a plus. Staff was polite and helpful. I figure if you are nice to the servers, they are nice to you. Comes from my time waiting tables in college, I guess. Only draw back is when we first sat down, my water cup had lipstick on it. They quickly exchanged it for a clean one, and everything else was clean. Hence just 4 stars.

I think this restaurant earns 4.5 stars. I have been there a few times but when I went last week I was blown away. Not only have they upgraded the restaurant (it looks much classier now) but the service was amazing. My husband and I ordered food and asked for it to be spicy, sure enough when we go the food it was so spicy that we weren't able to eat it. We told the waiter that it was too spicy and we asked for some yogurt to tune it down. However, even with the yogurt it was too spicy. The waiter than offered to take our food (which we had partially eaten) back and cook us new food that was less spicy. The new food was perfect and when we got the bill we saw that they didn't charge us for the yogurt or the new meal they made for us!!! Needless to say, we left a big tip for the fantastic service.

I can only judge them for the lunch buffet and mango lassi I had from here. The ambiance is pretty good, the naan was just okay and the choice of dishes in the buffet trays were just your typical dishes (curry, chicken tandoori, rice pudding, yellow colored rice, and lumps of green stuff). Of course no beef to be found here :-) I am not a connoisseur of Indian restaurants but have been to other buffets too and this is above average I'd say. The food here isn't bad (but not so great either) and will fill you up quickly. The service from waiters were just average...not rude nor too friendly and you get what you pay for...a decent meal for $11 I think. The parking lot is huge and it's right by the freeway. So drop by if you want to get full quickly from decent Indian food...but go somewhere else if you want something fancy schmancy. The mango lassi was alright...probably shouldn't have ordered it because I was already so full that it didn't help too much. There's something about Indian food that is universal...it fills you up so quickly that you can't eat that much (no more than 2 plates at most + dessert)...but digests rather quickly so you can eat again in a couple of hours. Not sure what it is.

They have renovated the whole restaurant. It is now one of the best in the county. A friend recently ordered food for a party and they promptly delivered in their truck. Food was fresh and hot even though it has traveled for 60 miles in LA traffic. Earlier we thought why on earth some one will order food from 60 miles away but after tasting it, we have decided to make this restaurant as our number 1 on priority list whether to dine or to order food or hosting a party. Great job Natraj Team.

Their lunch buffet is unbeatable, and at an amazing price. Not as spicy as I like my Indian food, but I understand it's toned down for the area. One of the few places I get really excited about eating at.

Driving down from bay area to a meeting and we were early so ate here to kill time. It was $15.99 and way over priced for what you got. I guess it was for champagne but he even told us he couldn't serve it to us because we sat outside. The food was not good. But then we are spoiled with amazing indian and Pakistan restaurants in sf tenderloin for about a fourth of the cost!

Awesome Indian food for SoCal and the decor is pretty cool as well. I usually always get great service from the waitstaff and the restaurant is pretty easy to find as well. I recommend coming here for sure!

I have ONLY been to their lunch buffet so I cannot vouch for anything else. But I have been to their lunch buffet at least 20 times over the years and really enjoy it because I've learned what to take and what to leave on the buffet. Not every dish is good, but what is good is very good. I especially recommend the weekend buffet because they have a wider/better variety of dishes to choose from and it includes the option to get a mango lassi (which I love). The absolute best item is the bharta (eggplant) hands down!!! But I also enjoy the palak paneer (spinach with fresh cheese), naan breads, rice pudding, and gulab jamun (fried heavenly sugary cheese donuts) Everything eise is pretty much just average but there is honestly nothing on the buffet I felt was disgusting. It's always fresh and the service is very friendly. Better to eat @ Nina's grocery (which is owned by the same people) They do it up right over there and cater it towards more Indian tastes.

Went here got dinner. We ordered tomato soup first. It tasted like vegetable curry with lots of water. Why can't they make creamy tomato soup the way they do in india. Its not rocket science. Then we Ordered malai kofta, lamb curry and naan. Both the dishes were very nice, especially the lamb curry. The naans, I still like Spice India for those. the gaajar halwa was good. We told the waiter about the soup. He said he'll talk to the chef. He never got back to us. We had expected some kind of a response at least. But overall, good ambience, decent food.

Best lunch buffet ever! So many choices! The food is delicious! Service is friendly and very nice. And for $10 you just can't beat this price. It includes your drink and you can even order champagne :) How cool is that! Love it!

Excellent Indian Food. Every curry has its own distinct taste. Malay Kofta and Palak Paneer were delicious. Roti and Kulcha were made well. The lamb was cooked to perfection. And the prices are reasonable. Make sure to eat here if you are in the area.

Sadness... Based on friends' opinions, I looked forward to eating lunch here! However, I was not impressed at all by Natraj when I came here for the buffet. They served us naan and I went up to choose from their relatively small assortment of dishes. They had samosas, pakora, and your usual suspects at Indian places (sans Chana Masaala!). The samosas were incredibly dry and bland. I did not enjoy them at all. The pakora was pretty good and I got quite a lot of it. Their spinach curry tasted pretty strong but simply wasn't to my liking. The chicken masaala here was nothing remarkable but reasonably good. It was too bad that they kept running out of it very fast and were very slow to refill. The Tandoori chicken was bland, but this type of chicken tends to be in my experience. Their savior was their naan, which was done very well. Just slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and served in easy-to-handle sizes. Overall, however, the food at Natraj left much to be desired. I've had much better Indian food (sadly, not in the area). I don't know of another Indian place in the vicinity that I'd choose over Natraj, however.

We have been coming here for 6 years, and I've always loved the chicken vindaloo. The past two times we've eaten here, the vindaloo has changed. The meat is now all dark meat, it used to be all breast meat. The sauce is much darker, and so full of cardamon, that it's over-powering. Or server told us they have the same chef as always, and he was unaware if they changed the recipe or not. I winner what other recipes they changed? Very disappointing.

I've been to Natraj several times for dinner, but his was my first lunch buffet experience. The food was excellent, the nan kept coming, and the service was great! I enjoyed my favorite saag paneer, but also had the opportunity to try some new dishes. The tikki masala was fabulous, and the next time I go for dinner I'm going to have a very hard time choosing which dish to order.

  • Mimi S.

I went here with my mom for their lunch buffet, which is $10 a pop for all you can eat. The selection wasn't as great as expected but they had their trademark dishes: tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, pureed eggplant, rice etc. Everything we ate was average to good but nothing was bad. The desserts were a bit disappointing, but again, it wasn't something I would classify as bad, just a bit bland. The best part of the meal was of course, the garlic naan! These came out hot and doughy and just perfect. I guess its not good when the "bread" was the highlight of the meal, but it really was for us. The restaurant decor needs a serious face lift but the place did appear to be well kept in terms of cleanliness. The service was OK. Our server wasn't really attentive, but he did the bare minimum. He did forget the to bring us our only two requests until prompted, but we looked past that. I don't think we will be coming back for a while since there are better options for quality Indian food just a few miles up the freeway.

Went there with gf. It looks shady from outside and beautiful from inside. Good service. I like it hot so had the Lamb Vindaloo. They asked me if I wanted it medium or hot. Well I took hot and it was da bomb! Mango Lassie was ok but could have been more fancy. Naan was a little burnt. However great food but not 5* yet.

  • Ginny M.

The vegetarian dishes we ordered were excellent (the creamed spinach dish came with a good quantity of fairly large cheese cubes - sometimes restaurants skimp on these, but not here). The vegetable pakoras looked unusual at first as they were small (although numerous) but they were delicious and had a spicy bite to them. We also ordered dal and it was very good, but the waiter had not asked what level of spice we prefer (a question I usually get at Indian restaurants), as I was reminded by the fact that the lentil dish was not spicy. However, it was very flavorful and there were condiments available to spice it up. The basmati rice and the naan were excellent. I don't know how the food here stacks up against authentic Indian food but if I compare it to various Indian restaurants I've been to, I'd say it is very good to excellent.

I've been coming to Natraj for years (since it was a smaller restaurant in Mission Viejo). It is the only Indian restaurant I truly enjoy. I don't care for dishes that are very spicy and Natraj offers a nice variety for all tastes. My "going out to eat" friend is a vegetarian and loves this place. The staff is friendly and efficient; the decor is quite lovely. The three chicken dishes on the lunch buffet are beautifully done and the vegetables offer great variety in type, sauce and spice.

Indian Food. Some people regard it like a four letter word or a hated ex that they got some unspeakable STD from. But open yourself up to what really is an excellent cuisine. Natraj is small and quaint. You know you're near by immediately. The smells hit you like like a PCPd up prostitute evading a policeman during a sting operation. POW to the face! And it's really with Indian restaurants and homes that I noticed such strong aromas. Like I said, it's small and they give you these crispy appetizers when you sit down. Their Palak Paneer is really, really good. For those that don't know, it's spinach and unaged cheese basically. I mean, the chicken marsala is really good also. Naan. The lamb with coconut curry is very, very nice. The curry is light, yet spicy and the lamb is very sharp tasting. The garlic naan makes me want to replace my love for the flour tortilla. Seriously. It's that good. I buy it from my local Indian grocer now. Everything here can be ordered spicy or put a hole in your stomach spicy... Which, if anyone read my review of Orochon, you know I LOVE spicy selections. Yeah, i was beading up on the lamb. It was killin me not so softly. All in all very good, quaint vibe and location. The food is rather good and I was most impressed with the quality of the food. The spices really are the star of the show. So many things just jump off the palate. The food is as colorful as it is tasty as well. I've eaten at a number of Indian places and this one is really up there for me in terms of freshness and taste. And for something different on the dessert side, treat yourself to the Galub Jalum (spelling?). It's a tasty and sweet cheeseball. Get them warm and with rice pudding. Sooooo good. Come here with someone you love or love to eat with. Don't risk a date on this place... It's not for everyone.

This is a review of the dinner I recently had at Natraj. The food was just ok, nothing more. I felt that the menu prices were pretty steep for the portion sizes. Our naan bread was burnt, the raita (yogurt sauce) was very thin and runny. The meat dishes we had had plenty of little bits of meat, hardly any fuller pieces. The interior leaves much to be desired as well. Service - hardly any. I felt like we were being ignored, and I had to get up to ask for water. I'm pretty surprised at the great reviews on here. Perhaps we went on an off night for them. Nonetheless, I have to be honest with my review.

When I went to this place, it felt like I was being dragged into going to a musical I wasn't even looking forward to. Let me start off by saying I am not a big fan of Indian food. I try to be as open minded as possible and will even try an ethnicity of food several times because I believe there should be at least a couple of foods within that entire ethnicity that one could enjoy. Sadly to say, Natraj will be the final indian restaurant I will go to in my life. Natraj being my 4th indian restaurant I have visited I was going in with low expectations after not enjoying my previous three experiences. A friend recommended this place highly for lunch stating the lunch buffet was cheap, healthy and extremely tasty. We went for the lunch buffet and as someone who wanted to give it a chance, I tried all of their dishes. There was probably about 20 total. Sampling the beef and potato dishes, the various chicken, curry, peas and everything in between dishes I could only find one thing I liked. And that was the naan(not sure how it's exactly spelled). Every main dish I tried did not please my taste buds at all. Sure it's a buffet, but a terrible one when you cannot enjoy it at all. Imagine having to pay $10 for all you can eat white rice. No matter how good it is it's still not something you want to do. Paying almost ten bucks for faux pita bread isn't my ideal lunch and imagine would not be yours either. I have nothing against Natraj. I mean, most people might enjoy it if Indian food is their cup of tea, but for me, it was just not an enjoyable experience. From tasting the food to receiving the bill. So if you already don't like indian food like yours truly, don't be expecting this place to wow you and make your head to spin 360 degrees in amazement. Because it tastes like almost every other one to the untrained tongue.

I have enjoyed Natraj Cuisine Of India from when they had the restaurant in Belmont Shore eons ago. I was delighted to find them again after moving to the So. O.C. I find this place very good, in terms of flavor and taste, but I prefer to order off the menu, versus eating the food from the buffet... simply because I don't like to eat buffet. (Pig trough comes to mind...) My own personal choice. It's also difficult to control food temperatures-keeping hot food hot (And from scorching) and cold items cold. The food is aromatic and spicy. Layers of cardamon, turmeric, clove, garlic and chili seduce your taste buds! Their prices are reasonable. The food from the menu is brought hot, and fresh. The naan is very good here. This Natraj location only received fours stars because the service was mediocre, some of the glassware and flatware on our table was dirty. The waiter seemed impatient, irritated, (It was about 5 in the evening) non-accommodating and aloof, which was different from the Long Beach location back in the day where the owner and his wife gave superb personable service, and the waiters were there to serve you before you asked for one... Something to seriously work on for Natraj of Laguna Hills.

This is my favorite place for Indian buffet even though I have to drive 50 miles EACH way. Their Sunday buffet offers the most selection and even though it's more expensive than their normal lunch buffets, it's completely worth it. In general, all the dishes are very good. A couple that stand out in particular are the bhartha, bindi masala, hard-boiled egg curry, and tandoori chicken. They also have a wonderful black tea that they import from India. Though I'm sure many of you have enjoyed Chai, I recommend trying the black tea sometime. Since it doesn't have milk, the spices and aromas aren't masked and the lingering taste is quite wonderful.

I have had much better Indian buffets..... This one for the money is mediocre. I sometimes wonder if they are less attentive to their Indian bretheren.... If you are ever in Las Vegas try Gandhi's Indian restaurant. Great food , price, ambience & service.

Definitely the best Indian restaurant I know of in South OC. Although their weekday buffet is a good deal, do yourself a favor and just order the best dishes they carry. Other than the chicken tikka masala, the dishes they carry for the weekday buffet is just alright. The Sunday brunch features better dishes, so if you want a buffet I'd wait till Sunday. My favorite item from here is the Tandoori Chicken. It's seasoned just perfectly. The Chicken Tikki is basically the same thing as the Tandoori Chicken except it is the chicken breast, instead of the chicken leg. I find the leg more tender but it's all a matter of personal preference. The Seekh Kabab, which is basically a homemade lamb sausage is very good. The Chicken Tikka Masala is also divine; nice creamy tomato-ey sauce. If you're ordering for the first time the Mixed Tandoori Platter is a good idea because you can try a variety of items and it's enough for two to share. The naan bread is nice and fresh but not outstanding. I haven't really been impressed with their vegetable entrees. I didn't care for the seasoning of the Saag Paneer (spinach with cheese) and the Dal Makhani (spiced mushy lentils). Of all the desserts I've tried here the Kheer (rice pudding with pistachios) is the best. I've tried over and over to recreate it myself but it never tastes quite the same as theirs. The family who owns the restaurant is very nice. They always try to make suggestions of what to order and recognized me by name only after coming in a couple times. I know that's kind of silly but I appreciate that kind of service.

Okay, I have only been to Natraj for the lunch buffet, but I think it's safe to say that it is the shiznit. I like it because, as a vegetarian, most places only have one, maybe two, entree selections for me. Their lunch buffet provides 5 vegetarian entrees (and three meat, usually chicken, entrees). Five! And it's a buffet, so I can eat all five. Plus, there is rice, naan, fruits and veggies, and samosas or pakoras to fill up on as well. Of course, this wouldn't be worth much if the food was crappy, but it is quite good (especially for a lunch buffet). The flavors are bold (duh, Indian food) and distinct between dishes. The entrees on offer are on a rotating basis, so they have a different selection every time you go. Anyway, long story short: I have a standing policy in my office that when we go to Natraj, I will treat. This is basically an incentive to get us out there at least once every two weeks. By the way, the rice pudding is bomb. And the service is great.

This is my favorite Indian buffet. I like it much better than Clay Oven. I find that Clay Oven does not have much variety and it was very salty the one time I went there. Royal Khyber lunch buffet is good, but pricey for what you get. My Indian friend says this place is very good, but she also thought Natraj was very good as well. Royal Khyber might have it slightly over Natraj in terms of quality. The chicken vindaloo at Natraj is spicy!! in a good way. The tikka masala is yum. They have the best kheer (rice pudding). Sundays buffet has all-you-can drink champagne. That deserves a star all by itself. They usually add a lamb dish and gulab jamun. Unlike a lot of places, the gulab jamun is served warm Little yummy balls of fried cheese goodness in a honey sauce. Don't be put off by the fried cheese ball. It's really light becuase it's yogurt cheese. The mango lhassi here is decent. The chai tea is really good. They don't sweeten it at all so you can sweeten it as you choose. The cabbage and peas is very good. If you love cooked cabbage, you'll like this dish. There were no cucumbers to dip in yur raita. The naan is good, warm and chewy.

I came here for the first time yesterday to meet some friends. When I heard that we were going to have Indian buffet for lunch I was pretty excited because Indian food is one of my favorites! At a glance, the restaurant looks nice and is nicely decorated. The restaurant is actually pretty big but it feels small because the ceiling is rather low. I thought the front door was pretty cool... but that's as far as aesthetics go. One of the good things about this restaurant is the wide selection of curries they have. However, none of them were exceptionally good. Very lightly spiced, I thought the selections needed a bigger kick in herbal flavor. My favorite, the chicken tikka masala had tender chicken pieces that were tasty, but the curry it sat in was too simple. The rice, salad bar, chicken tandoori, samosas, etc. were also only average. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing tasted superb either. If only the price for the buffet was lower! To eat the lunch buffet, the restaurant charges $20! That was a huge turn off to me and I didn't even find out how expensive it was until I finished eating. I don't think I will ever come here again simply because the food was average while the price was above average. In sum, take your $20 and save it for a better restaurant.

eh. we had their sunday lunch buffet with some family. it was ok. the GRUB: - tandori chicken. a little dry but tasty with the riata and spicy fruit chutney - naan was warmed up and good. - chicken tikka was creamy good. - the veggie korma and samosas hit the spot. - fresh salad round everything out. - sodas and lassi available. the JOINT: - fancy. with a lot of indian trinkets and colors to keep your eyes entertained. - plenty of seating inside. - service was attentive. - plenty of parking the SQUEEZE: - its the OC / Laguna Hills - its about right considering its location. - cash and card accepted. the FINAL WORD: very passable Indian Cuisine if ever in the hills.

Recently found the lunch buffet at Natraj which for $9.95 is a bargain. The food is always fresh and hot, the help friendly and the cloth table cloths are a great touch. The chicken Tika Masala is one of my favorites, but everything they serve is great.

Went to dinner with my wife and my 3 year old. Completely overpriced. They had a lot of take out orders so they neglected customers in the restaurant. About 10 waiters....they need more cooks. Took 15 minutes just to get my drink. Wife liked the food, I've had much better at way cheaper. Meal came 50 minutes after ordering. Charged extra for more nan. Didn't get our nan until we got our meal. Frustrating watching so many servers with no food to serve. Never will I go back here again. I've never put a review up before but signed up just to warn everyone. Not a food friendly place if you have kids. Maybe buffet is better.

I had relatively high expectations of this place because it was recommended to me by a total Indian food snob when I asked her what her favorite Indian restaurant was outside of her native New Delhi. Wait. She actually told me to try the Natraj in Long Beach and now I wonder if they might not come from the same family of restaurants?? This Natraj is semi-hidden in a non-descript strip mall. It's a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Very ornate decor, felt a little palatial. A first glance at the menu showed me prices that were higher than what I'm accustomed to at other Indian restaurants, about $1 to $2 more expensive per dish. We started with the Mixed Hors D'ouerves plate ($9) , which came with an assortment of chicken tikka, samosa, seekh kabob and pakoras, all of which tasted fine, but didn't pack the flavor punch that I've experienced before. They were all pretty mild in flavor. The butter chicken or chicken mahkani ($14), arrived in a tiny metal bowl. There were chunks of chicken swimming in a tikka masala sauce. It was sweet tasting and smacked of butter, indeed. Still, the chicken wasn't as tender as I've had before, especially if it's been simmered. And I wasn't completely won over by the creamy, sweet-ish sauce. I'm probably more of a vindaloo kind of girl. The seekh kabob, or minced lamb kabob ($12), was also OK, but nothing special. For the prices they charge, I'd still say it's way better over at Bukhara in HB or Mother India in Costa Mesa (but not the lunch buffet there!!)

Lunch buffet is awesome for a buffet. Normally I wouldn't trust a buffet at an Indian place because you can't choose how spicy you want it to be, but they put enough spice in there's and you can add more at the table if needed. Only set back is that you may have a hard time making it out the door when you are finished eating because you are so full!

Out of all the Indian restaurants I've tried in Southern California, San Francisco, New York and London, Natraj is my absolute favorite place to get Indian food. Their brunch/lunch buffet always has awesome variety and quality food. After reading some previous reviews, I thought I should just point out that they do have samosas but they won't always have it at the buffet. Their prices are totally affordable and every time I've gone in they give me a coupon for my next visit! Their vegetable korma is not to be missed, nor is their lamb tikka. They also serve Diet Coke instead of Diet Pepsi (amaaaaazzziiiinnnngggg graaaaaaccceeeeeeee) The servers are always sooooo sweet and helpful and I always look forward to coming here when I'm visiting my family down here (we've been coming to this place for years and years). Oooooooooh and be sure to get the gulab jamun for dessert!!!! It's perfection manifested in little cheese balls!

Brother and I took my mom here for their Sunday Brunch. I hadn't been here in over 7 years, and it hadn't changed much. The Brunch was a Champagne buffet. We went around 1:30PM, and it wasn't crowded at all. The buffet was a little small, but the food was good. I love chicken, so that's a plus. The Lamb was good as well. I like Indian food, but it's definitely not at the top of my list, so I'll eat it, enjoy it, but it may be a while before I go back. I will not make it another 7 years though. Service was good, friendly staff, and unlimited champagne. Overall, was a good experience and left very full.

Ok, I am Japanese American, but I like Indian Food. Been to places in Artesia, Cerritos, and others in the southland. Natraj is consistent and tasty. The garlic nan is the bomb, we always order extra for our family cuz our kids will wipe it out with the eggplant and/or spinach dish. Owner is a great guy with passion for the customer. With five locations, the food quality has been consistent between Laguna and Irvine. I'd recommend it.

Wow, this place is great! Dinner was amazing- aloo gobi, loorhey choley, garlic nan and a great eggplant dish I had never had. Everything was super spicy (as requested), flavorful and not at all oily. The staff was great- super accommodating. All in all, a great experience. We will definitely go back- probably next week!

This place is ok and convenient for me but the food is rather bland. Chicken tikka masala is very watery. Service is slow when it comes to getting naan. Water service is faster.

There are not many places to get good Indian food in the laguna hills area, but this place its great. If you have never had Indian food it is a great place to try it out at the lunch buffet where you can test most of the basics on the menu, for a reasonable price. I go there about once a month to fix my craving for some smashed up seasoned egg plant, yum!

Wow. Did I visit the same Natraj last night that ya'll are slamming down under? I had low expectations because of you haters, but showed up on a friend's invitation and my own Indian hankering. Maybe it makes a difference to come here for dinner rather than the lunch buffet. Besides, doesn't one automatically lower his expectations to some degree before slopping up food that has been sitting out for an unknown period of time? Natraj has a very nice ambience to it in this spacious Laguna Hills location, complete with comfortable booth seats, cloth tables a bottle of Pellegrino crowning each, and authentic Indian music playing overhead. The service I would say was a bit slow, so don't come here for dinner if you are in any kind of rush. Our meal began with the lentil, chicken and rice soup, which had a creamy texture with just a slight bite to it. It was delicious, as was the garlic naan bread and the hot Indian tea. Next we enjoyed palaak paneer (which was not on the menu but readily available on request) and the savory red chicken dish ordered by my friend. The saffron rice was the perfect texture and only slightly sprinkled with carrots and parsley. We felt like we had eaten a lot of food but when the bill arrived we were pleasantly surprised. Those who call this place expensive need to get out more often. We made plans to return to enjoy more from the appetizer menu, which had a lot to offer for only $4-5 per item. The waiter brought us coupons upon paying, good for $10 off our next visit of $40 or more. This just sealed the deal that we had enjoyed a very satisfying Indian experience for a better than average price.

This is the second best Indian buffet in OC. First is the hole-in-the-wall Clay Oven in Irvine, but this place also rocks -- I miss living down the street from it. Good ambiance, etc. And there are several express versions in Foothill Ranch, Tustin and some other places, and another sit-down in Laguna Beach (not as good, but also has a lunch buffet).

I thought this was pretty good as far as Indian food goes (I think there are still better places in LA.) There was a decent selection, but my problem was with the temperature of the food. Most was only warm, instead of hot. I realize that it is a buffet, but we went for lunch around 11:00 so I expected the food to be fresh and hot. The palak paneer, which is usually one of my favorites, was not as appetizing lukewarm. I was not impressed by the two rice puddings they had either. On the plus side, the curries were delicious and perfectly spicy. The nann came out hot and fresh from the oven. I really enjoyed dipping it into the tamarind and raita sauces. I might go back here for the champagne brunch, but probably not for lunch.

Wow, so yummy, to be 100% honest, sometimes its really good and sometimes its oh so really Great! But its always "good" we only go for the buffet, cuz otherwise its too expensive, but my husband and I are both vegetarians and totally love Indian food, but we are horribly picky... Natraj deff. passes the test, we have been to indian spots in s.f. Long beach, LA, New York, Santa Barbara, and Natraj is the best! Good service, and great food!

Its ok if you need a fix of Indian cuisine. The buffet is ok and cheap if you just want a taste...I don't know that I would recommend or even go back....anyone know of a better place?!?

  • Patricia F.

This place is next to my house but the quality is just not there so we stopped going. It's a little pricey considering the quality, but even if it was cheaper I still would not go back. We have had good indian food at other places so I guess you could say we are spoiled. One of the times I ordered the Saag Aloo they had put way too much of one condiment in it that made it all wrong, I could smell it was all wrong before I even tasted it, it tasted very funky. This was not typical, but after that we stopped going.

The lunch buffet had a wide variety of choices, including the classic chicken tikka masala. It was good deal at $10 per plate. I was impressed with the service, which was prompt and courteous.

I love Natraj! Especially this location. The restaurant is not fancy, but the food is spectacular! I love the buffet at lunch time. It is a great price and has great options. Especially if you are vegetarian. Their dinner menu is more expensive, but it is fantastic. My favorite items they prepare are the Channa Masala and the Palak Paneer. My husband loves their rack of lamb. I've been to Indian restaurants all over Orange County and this one is definitely one of my favorites!

I've been to the fast food one in Foothill Ranch which is under the same chain and is horrible but went the restaurant for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. I had great Indian food in Toronto and NYC but this place is pretty close. The naan bread was soft and doughy, the chicken tikka masala was perfectly flavored for my taste and I also got the cauliflower and potato dish which was also good too. The portion is good for the price and the waiters were attentive. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I get a craving for some Indian food...also excited to try their other dishes.

Pretty good indian food for south OC...we like the roti bread made of whole wheat, the roasted eggplant dish, and the chicken tikka marsala. Will have to try other items next time.

I've been once, I'm sure I'll go back, especially for this fabled lunch buffet. I'm a little spoiled because a similar restaurant on the east coast had slightly more flavorful dishes (especially the Aloo Paratha) but I really did enjoy it.

    (4)
  • Melodie S.

Nice. The lunch buffet is a screamin' deal. For overall quality of food, I'd have to give Clay Oven in Irvine 1st place in OC, but this is worth a try for those times when only Indian will do.

I have to say this is probably the best Indian restaurant outside of Artesia in Southern California (and it's in a strip mall!).

    (5)
  • Elisabeth M.

This is a solid Indian restaurant with no surprises. The food is not very spicy (mild at best) but the dishes I've tried are very flavorful and the menu is pretty standard. I've ordered takeout from Natraj many times and they always do a good job. Nothing to rave about but a good option when you get a craving.

i was so happy to find a good indian place near my work. the lunch buffet is a great deal, $9.99 for a good selection of entrees plus naan, two kinds of desserts, and a bunch of fruit. the chicken vindaloo is not that great, so i would skip that next time. the chicken tikka masala, the eggplant dish (i think it's called bhurta), and the saag paneer were excellent, though. so was the rice pudding for dessert. the vegetarian dishes were really yummy and substantial, so i would be happy to bring a vegetarian friend here. service was polite and attentive. they gave us coupons to use on our next visit when we paid the check. the five-star rating is for the value and quality of the lunch buffet only. i don't know what the dinner prices are like. we'll be back again soon!

Had a craving for Indian food and Natraj is really the only thing close to Laguna Niguel, so we went last night and had the combination dinner. It's located in a cheesy strip mall, but once you are inside the decor can make you forget that you're at a strip mall in Laguna Hills. I thought the service was subdued, but friendly enough. The food totally satisfied my cravings and with the coupon we brought in it was fairly reasonable. Started with Samosas which to me are a waste of precious calories, bland and starchy. The Chicken Tikka Masala was my fave, and they had no problem switching out the Saag Paneer (a spinach and cheese dish) for the Bhindi Masala which was sataueed okra with tomatoes and spices which was delish. I thought it would be a little fresher that the Saag. Overall I had a very nice experience at Natraj and will go back some time.

  • Jane D.

To be fair, I'm giving them 3 stars because the food was indeed VERY good! However, as a vegetarian I asked if I could have the vegetarian combo meal for one (the Natraj in Long Beach had no problem doing this for me and was kind enough to give a bit extra so my friend could try it as well). When the food arrived it was abundant! And when the bill came I was shocked to see that I was charged for the Combo! I told the manager and he offered to take 20% off and gave us a card for a free appetizer. I was not satisfied at all with this arrangement but what could I do? If I had wanted to spend $30 for a meal I wouldn't have asked if they could do this meal for one. Very disappointed. It's not likely I will return without a contract in hand that the waiter signs on off stating he understood my order. I was totally disappointed in how this was handled. As someone who works in the service industry, I would have honored the client/patron and given 50% off the meal as discussed at the time of ordering. My advise, go because the food is great...but make it CRYSTAL CLEAR if you want any substitutions!!!!!

Went there with some Indian friends. They thought the food was not spicy and flavorful enough. Of course, I couldn't tell! Quality seemed OK to me, but I thought it was a bit pricey for Indian food. Service was OK too. It is a bit more on the fancy side, for an Indian place, but the food is not WOW, just OK.

    (3)
  • Adam N.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is so friendly, the food is the best Indian around (and I lived in the UK for a bit), and the decor is very nice but not over the top to where you feel under dressed in jeans. I'll gladly throw money at this place, it never leaves me wanting more.

  • Aaron S.

One of my favorite Indian restaurants. I've come probably 8 times at this point for the buffet. Saturday buffet is good, Sunday buffet is a little bit more expensive, but it includes champagne (or OJ, or both) and has a much better selection. I'm a vegetarian, and they have plenty of vegetarian-dishes. In short, I love this place. Hugs to this place.

  • Hion L.

Came here for the lunch buffet and they had all the standard Indian items including tandoori chicken, curries, etc. Not a whole lot of difference from other Indian places in what they offered. Naan was decent. For around ten bucks, not a bad value for a quick sit down meal.

I came here with my boss, who is a fan. I was impressed with the interior of this location. Very minimal and nice. We came here for lunch on Wednesday and my day got better when I walked in. I was expecting usual Indian buffet food, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food there. The eggplant was my favorite, it was so good I wanted to take some home. The palak paneer was amazing. I would highly recommend coming here for lunch, as it was really quick to get in and out of there. Overall, I'm fan.

Very upscale restaurant, great ambience. We had the lunch buffet and it had lot of entrees and everything was well done and very tasty. Staff was very attentive and kept the buffet well stocked. We also enjoyed their food at a wedding they catered at the Ritz. They are definitely top notch in Indian cuisine.

This place is absolutely incredible! I'd love to hit their 11a-3p buffet daily, which is great, but the REAL goods is ordering take-out. Chicken Tikki Masala and Garlic Naan.. omfg. I honestly searched it on Yelp and didn't think I found the right place because it had 3.5 stars. Wtf is wrong with you people!? You must have not known what to order or came at 2:59p for the buffet...

So came here for a team luncheon since i work now for an indian offshore company. I'm not a big fan of indian food because most of it is drenched in sauces and i'm not big on sauce drenched foods. Anyway the lunch buffet had the typical staples i will eat like tandori chicken and a large assortment of cut fruit. Probably what stood out for me was the naan had a buttery taste to it kinda like popcorn with butter. Most of the time i've had the bread it was tasteless but the butter flavoring was a nice twist

Originally growing up in North OC and moving down here. South OC lacks certain culture foods. I had a crave for Indian and with my bf's coworkers recommending this place, we took a dive for dinner time. Natraj is located right off the 5 freeway and Alicia Parkway. Coming from North bound and exiting, it is located right after the first light where a Carl's Jr and Big Lots is located. The restaurant is in the very corner of the plaza. The parking lot seemed empty, but arriving upon the clear glass door, there was actually quite a crowd. We were seated at the booth. Ordered the Tandoori Platter, located on the chicken and lamb page. $20, ordered it as an appetizer. The kind server said it takes a while. Came out on a grilled platter. Delicious! Entree, ordered the Punjabi Curry and Sagwalla Chicken (spinach dish). My two favorite dishes, both $13 each. Both dishes were perfect!!! Better than couple of places I've been to in North OC. Dessert, we ordered the rice pudding. This dessert is LEGIT!! It doesn't have that "out of box/powder" taste like most places do. It was nicely subtle, not too sweet, light and creamy. Wish I ordered two, we split one dish amongst three of us. Service! EXCELLENT!!! I loved how they were on top of customer service such as switching out dirty plates for clean ones, always refilling our water cups, and were kind to advise us what to get since we were unsure. Also, they give coupons after paying. Smart marketing! We are definitely coming back!!

Definitely one of my favorite places to "Spice up". The food here is literally PACKED with flavor. From one end of the buffet to the other, you'll find adventure in every item. Once in a while they break out this cauliflower that is remarkable. I never knew it could taste like that. There's also an amazing dish made of eggplant and another of spinach that both go great with the Naan (Indian flatbread) which I like with garlic oil. The chicken is usually made three different ways, Masala, Curry and I think the last one was Makki. All were cooked just right and the spices used in these foods have powerful medicinal properties. I can feel my blood surge after a good meal here. My first time, I swear I got a "food high". The service is very good, my waiter had an amusing sense of humor which is one of the reasons I've been back about 12 times so far this year.

    - Locale destination - It's kinda tiny place from outside but there are many seating inside. Next to Big Lots. Nothing fancy. - Gluttony expedition - I tried only once for lunch buffet with Champagne. So I'm not sure whether if they change menu or not for

NEVER NEVER NEVER WILL I EAT HERE AGAIN. The staff was very rude. The food was ok. The coffee was Awful. It tasted like instant from last year. The waiter was hateful and so was the guy seating people. Both looked mad. They gave us a coupon which they did not want to honor even though it was 3 days ago they gave it out. Nasty staff. Ok food. Nasty coffee!

Natraj Cuisine of India is a local favorite. I usually come here for the lunch buffet, which offers a $11 smorgasbord of delectable Indian cuisine. The food is nothing glamorous (most Indian food tastes better than it looks), but all the staples are there: saffron rice, chicken tandoori, chicken tika masala, saag paneer--all in unlimited servings. The best thing, of course, is the unlimited naan, which comes in both plain and garlic flavors and is always served piping hot. The most popular dishes are always present, but some of the items get rotated so diners may have a slightly different selection depending on the day they visit. I know that the dessert bar cycles between carrot pudding, gulab jamun, and a couple other things. Also, at least one of the entrée selections seems to be a wild card. I don't recommend coming for dinner as the menu is entirely a la carte and at much higher prices.

The long beach location was so phenomenal when I found out they had a location closer to south OC I was elated! However, the garlic naan and the samosas were over seasoned and falling apart! The older woman at the table adjacent to mine was telling the staff how her food was far too salty and spicy. She said she had been coming there for years so I know I figured it's not just me. I loved their eggplant dish in long beach but my eggplant didn't even have the stem cut off at the Laguna hills location. It had a strange taste to it. Very disappointed but the long beach location is MUCH better. Anyone reading this to decide on a dinner spot: go somewhere else :(

My wife and I made our first visit here today, even though we have lived just up the road for 20 years. We thought it was OK. Interior is ornate, but attitude is relaxed. We both had the $10.99 buffet, and it was OK. I wanted to try Chicken Tikki Marsala, since I had never had it. It was just OK, to me kinda bland, and watery, but maybe that's exactly as it should be. The other items were pretty much the same, very muted flavors, a bit salty in a couple of items, and just OK. Not sure I would ever come back, the food was just not very exciting.

My favorite place to eat in Orange County! I LOVE Indian food, and although I've had better Indian food on the east coast + in Britain, this place is tops for the price and for the quality in the OC. Like most Indian food places, they do lunch buffet from 11 until 2 or 3. On weekdays it's standard fare: palak and aloo gobi + some lentil dishes with chicken marsala + rice pudding, plus you get a basket of plain naan with your meal. It's around $10 per person and it's never busy. On Sundays they do a champagne brunch, and they have a larger variety of foods, including lamb dishes and more dolled-up versions of their weekday foods (pistachio in their rice pudding, paneer cheese in their curries, etc.). It's the most delicious. Their waiters are ON IT with clearing dishes and keeping drinks filled, too. The only gripe is that it does get busy + they WILL kick you out if you've been there longer than they think you should be there. They want to get other guests in + out, you see. Evenings have more of a fine-dining feel, and the waiters are more dressed up and service is more personal than buffet service. We usually get 2 dishes and some rice and garlic naan + end up taking some home. They'll customize dishes and modify the spiciness to whatever you can bear. I fully recommend Sunday to come in, especially if you're new to Indian food. You can try a little of everything + get a feel for North Indian cuisine done fairly well, and it won't break your bank. They also do catering for events and stuff, which I've never tried, but I have a boyfriend who always jokes about getting married so we can get a grip of catered Natraj.

They have great service and provide a good ambiance for the diners which very unusual with Indian restaurants but the food is not that great. not authentic for sure and did not taste fresh. Most of the Indian restaurants serving buffet serve old food which is really bad and this place definitely tasted old too.

Get the mango lassi. It will cut the spice of the food. Garlic naan Is amazing.

My wife and I went for the buffet and it was by far the best Indian food buffet we've been to. I have to assume that their entire menu is delicious, based upon the great selection of choices and tastiness of every dish. The food and ambiance reminded me more of a catered party than a run of the mill buffet. Everything was very clean, classy decor, fresh table linens...and I'm always super happy when the bathrooms are clean...as they were at Natraj. The waiters were especially nice and attentive as well. The buffet had dishes I had never even tasted before and I've been eating Indian food for almost 20 years. Honestly, before we went I had heard some "not so great" remarks about Natraj so I was hesitant to go. I have a feeling, after reading some other reviews, that they've possibly made a concerted effort to make some improvements. I'm not sure, but we were really impressed and absolutely loved, loved the food. We'll certainly be going back. (the buffet even included Mango Lassi and Champagne...most Indian buffets I've been to don't include beverages) Lastly, we took our 4 year old little girl who sometimes eats...sometimes doesn't...it's always a gamble to buy her an "all you can eat" for kids. I asked the waiter if I needed to purchase one for her and he basically said..."...don't even worry about it...she can have some of yours...." I thought that was very nice and reasonable. Not all restaurants are as understanding. Thumbs up!

So so so nice!! Our waiter was Prakash and he was such a sweet heart! He was constantly bring us water, checking on us and made it a great first time visit. He also recommended food and answered questions about dishes. The food was 4/5 totally worth it. The chicken tikka masala was a little salty but it was creamy and still really good, it balanced out with the rice. The punjabi chicken was great as well, we got it spicy and it was soooo good. Over all I loved it here all the staff was great, it's clean, and the food is great! Ladies the bathrooms are super clean, a plus in my book. I recommend all the way, the waiter even gave us a coupon for next time!

We can't get enough of this place! The food is wonderful and the service is absolutely fabulous. If you go, ask for Prakash. He is the most delightful waiter/host you may ever meet. He has become an extended part of our family. Tonight we celebrated Holi day with him and he even included us in the ritual of sharing his flower based paint for our faces to celebrate Spring! Thanks Prakash!

I have decided to edit the review that I made of Natraj a while ago. I originally gave it 4 stars but I really think it deserves 5. This is the best Indian buffet I've found so far in California and I've gone to approx a million in LA, San Diego, you name it! Their lunch buffet is affordable, delicious, and occurs daily! Sunday brunch has the best selection and also all you can drink champagne but is more expensive of course. They do every dish...perfectly. Saag panir, baingan bharta, chicken tikki marsala, their roasted vegetable collection with okra etc, samosas, pakoras, garlic naan to order (they bring it to you hot). There are many more dishes. The selection is incredible. Their service is fantastic. They just redid the interior and it looks great. Go to this place.

This review is soley based on the lunch buffet. I say for eleven dollars, this place isn't too bad. I've only tried a couple of other indian buffets and they've mostly all been on par with one another. The chicken tikka masala is delicious along with the garlic naan. The service is good, my water was always filled before it hit the half full mark. If you're ever in the area and want really good indian food though... try Nina's as well!

We had a party of four and enjoyed Saag Paneer, and okra dish, a coconut shrimp dish and a chicken dish. We are somewhat novices on Indian cuisine. The ambiance and service were excellent and the food very good. The Saag Paneer was the best with the chicken somewhat dry and unimpressive. It was an enjoyable evening. We will return and stick to the vegetables next time.
